Ah, sorry I didn't read that closely. One minor nit (which the Perl press releases also mess up): the randomisation is per- interpreter , not per- process . That's not a pedantic distinction. I've seen a couple of bugs/b

Perl also changed its behavior, but in the other direction: a random seed was used per interpreter start after 5.18. https://www.perlmonks.org/?node_id=1005122

Why does stackfulness not color functions? So long as preemption/parallelism boundaries are manually annotated, I don’t think stackful coroutines save you anything here.

No, instead they have subinterpteters with all of the massive overhead that brings re: data sharing. And even fewer CPAN modules are remotely thread safe than PyPi modules, probably in absolute as well as relative terms. That’s a low bar. A

Functions.partial can also supply captures in that way, and is slightly more obvious (and less likely to generate linter complaints if the kwarg is mutable).

You're not wrong, but I'd say fail2ban still has value for junior operators seeking to reduce load and increase stability . If you don't know how to harden SSH, fail2ban is offers a much friendlier way to reduce the volume o

As the sibling comments show, nohup does occasionally have sharp edges re: sharing/inheriting std* streams. I've also encountered inconsistencies when using nohup with lots of different users' shells (academics of wildly vari

In addition to standardization headaches, the wheel issue discussed is also hindered by using file names as an at least somewhat complex medatata structure's transport. Sure, you can do that, but it's a pain in the ass even if y

Off the top of my head: - Minimal standardization of ways to cache pre-built artifacts for modules with binary/XS components (no widely adopted wheel equivalent). - Extremely poor support in cpan-the-tool for multiple local::lib enviro

Yeah, that's incredibly frustrating. There's an open issue about it which you can express support for, and some marginally-hacky code that you can paste into a "debug_wheel.py"-ish script to get unblocked in the short te
