Actually, it's more of an issue with writing down the URL and passing it on. Less characters means its harder to screw up. Question marks and random letters make non-techie people anxious. If its short, it at least helps.

This doesn't really translate to anything in the real world. If the goal is to write code quickly, Pascal does beat C & C++. But there are tons of other languages that aren't available.

Looks really awesome. I dig the clean interface/presentation. The app is done well enough where nothing is overtly bad or glaring. That being said, I do have a few light thoughts & suggestions. - I agree a source textbox for citations w

@nhangen: The government. They offered to collaborate in order to make sure nothing bad would be released. The government ignored them, however. What does that say?

This video wasn't about Google instant: it was about magazine search, which it handled extremely well.

Its easy to scrape the data post mortem from twitter users, since NYT gave them specific links. I imagine they didnt think to record users data until it was too late: twitter happened to have a log available.

It seems silly, but texting is significantly more discreet than a call, and takes less effort to do. If you're within earshot of a "bad guy," you can nonchalantly send a text, and it can be done a lot quicker. Isn't reducing bystander apath

That's really an amazing system. Super redundant. A relatively easy boost, which he briefly mentioned, would be to also store the data in S3. That should be easy enough to be automated, which could provide a a somewhat-reliable off-site bac

More tellingly, on an average two-hour flight, you'd receive about 100 times the radiation from a single scan. But, by using the transitive property, you're more likely to die from radiation at flying altitudes than from a terrorist attack

Still vernerable to MITM attacks, since an attacker could intercept a legitimate respo se for safe.js, but then send the user a completely different file. You need to sign the entire file. Now you're incredibly close to having SSL.

"Je t'aime" is wrongly classified as English. (Although understandable, since it's short) How does this work? You claim it has "zero language knowledge," so how does it classify? Did it start out with nothing, and then train it on a corpus?

I completely understand your plight. However, why don't you offer an HTTP option? Very little of your site transmits sensitive information. Its actually a little disconcerting to be forced to use HTTPS to see a simple blog post.

Agreed. However, I feel it's way better than a "traditional" system of footnotes and annotations. It's difficult to navigate due to the sheer amount of information it contains, most of which can be ignored. That being said, it can certainly

Wow! I'm surprised by the framerate, I'm getting ~50 in Chrome. I really didn't think these sorts of speeds were possible using Canvas, especially when you're completely redrawing the screen each time. For what it's worth, I unminified the

I remember last year watching the clock tick from 1:59 AM to 1:00 AM during a marathon coding session. For some reason, it's way more amusing than it should be. How does one refer to the two hours labeled as 1-2AM? Is there an official way

I love how Chrome tells me that this link is insecure (something wrong with SSL). Oh coincidences... Besides that, I don't quite understand what separates this from any other IM platform..?

Bash is awesome. This is one of my favorite bash scripts, it's an IRC bot in about 12 lines: http://inamidst.com/code/shellbot It's also pretty easy to add other commands & extend.

Very awesome. The prediction API looks really cool, which could hopefully make its way into a mashup. The feed push API seems genuinely useful, although it'd be nice to see a demo of its power/flexibility. I wonder how much Buzz data we can

Agreed. Even if the syntax is wildly different, the structure is similar. This is where XML gets annoying. Sure, it does make sense in certain situations, but it quickly gets hard to map all the attributes and child nodes into a nice object

You are correct. There are a few other small triggers that the keyboard can also potentially receive, but those 3 are the most common. HID in general can be set up to receive more data, but there aren't any "normal" devices with built-in dr

You do know it's a ATtiny85, which only has 8k flash. The USB library takes up 2k, and it would take at least another 0.5-1k to implement USB mass storage. It all leaves you about 5k for a payload, which I think is too small for the worm. O

It still relies on a 3rd party, no? If they're hosting the files, then it is no better than Drop.io. If the files are hosted off your own computer, then you still rely on them for redirection (same problem with URL shorteners). I don't lik

Why should one turn off linefeed conversion? I've used git on windows very briefly in the past, using this feature, and it seemed pretty nice. I'm planning on having some window-based coworkers use git soon, and does this really become a bi
