But I want to buy that kind of device for money and I can't.. something is wrong with the market, looks like collusion..

Is this the product where OpenAI will (soon) take profit share from inventions made there?

Just to make it clear - on Android you don't have the keys. Even with avb_custom_key you can't modify many partitions.

I was talking about different keys and different fuses. I know about "avb_custom_key" (provisioned by GrapheneOS), but all this AVB is handled by abl/trustzone and I can't modify those because those need to be signed wit

I'm not sure I'd agree with your last conclusion, we as consumers can choose what to buy, so for me the situation where there's one brand that produces open devices (with competing specs, not like pinephone..) where I could i

That's not really true, there will be a warning shown that "the phone is loading a different operating system" - I've seen that when installing GrapheneOS on my pixel. But it's not just about that, it's about t

The fact that he said that and then DID NOT topple the government in Iran is insane.. completely irresponsible, or rather responsible.. for those deaths. The irony is that now those who are still alive in Iran might remember this and update

It's Google's fault. I want to buy a smartphone without AVB at all. With no "secure boot" fuse blown (yes I DO know that this is not the same fuse) and ideally I'd want to provision my own keys. But vendors wouldn&#

Note that Google also forces this indirectly via their "certification" - if the device doesn't have unremovable AVB (requires qualcomm secure boot fuse to be blown) then it's not even allowed to say the device runs Andro

The problem is not that they will give the key (government can force them - this is expected), but that they even have the key in the first place.. I bet this is done without proper consent, or with choice like "yes" vs "mayb

How does it deal with AVB? Does it have a secure element that works with Android keymint? Does the bootloader implement fastboot? Is it unlockable? What does the partition layout look like? I suppose the actual magic has to happen in the &q

I'm not a fan of Apple, but I have to admit they're less intrusive when it comes to unremovable unwanted software (it's less open for those making software though). I wish we didn't have to choose between Google and Appl

The problem is that we're supposed to use these "secure apps" on our own devices.. but since they need these enhanced security guarantees, our own devices cease to be ours.

Google is to blame, they're abusing device security by preloading their unremovable spyware with elevated privileges.. people then want to remove it but then find themselves unable to use banking apps because of this. I'm not agai

WebAssembly sucks with regard to emulation speed, it doesn't even support native JIT. If you disagree, go and make a QEMU port where TempleOS doesn't take 5+ minutes to load. WebKVM is what we need..
