Ironically, there is another side to this too: you have to teach people that if they want a response, they need to include relevant information that relates to the person you are reaching out to, a "serious-looking" e-mail address

Not sure if it's my browser, but the dashes in the example are rendered with anti-aliasing below them. That is going to suck after a while, a dash should only have on-off pixels, nothing inbetween.

I've seen cases where the 'stop' sign is just a red circle, and then it changes to a green arrow pointing to the right when you're free to go.
