I don't understand the commentary about B&N possibly spinning off the subsidiary or selling it to Microsoft. Nook is B&N's only hope of survival.

My concern is that my ability to get feeds for news I want to follow is being reduced as people move to social networks. As you say, I can't count on catching one tweet or facebook post in the flood of messages. But sometimes people are onl

I've been using a Now & Zen timepiece for about 5 years now. It is far more pleasant to wake up to a gentle gong than electric buzzers that shock you awake. You can adjust the strike force to control for loudness. I keep it set fairly

ALEKS is awesome, I used it 10 years ago to refresh on some math topics. I should try it again just to see how much has improved since then.

Tor (not TOR) uses directory servers to keep track of middle and exit nodes. You can get the list directly or via a variety of front-ends. See https://www.torproject.org/docs/faq-abuse.html.en#Bans

The linux kernel has an order of magnitude fewer files than Facebook's test repository (25,000 in version 2.6.27, according to http://www.schoenitzer.de/lks/lks_en.html ) and only 9 million lines of text. This is on the largish side for a

I've used ViEmu for 5 years. I'm very satisfied with it. Don't have any reason to try VsVim, but it's nice to know there's more than one option now.

For dinner, it says I should have quinoa, wild rice, and chickpeas. I think it would be more appetizing if it did its calculations on a recipe basis -- so you'd get a menu plan composed of recipes selected to meet the given requirements. E

In your analogy, you assume that god exists. I could argue that if all unicorns are pink, then you can't disprove all unicorns are pink by showing me a blue one. That's like proving a theorem, finding it conflicts with your axiom, and say

Amazon says that S3 provides eleven nines (99.999999999%) durability of files. So if you have 100 billion objects in S3, you should expect to lose on average 1 per year. Or, if you have 10,000 files, you should expect to lose 1 per 10 mil

My primary complaint about Tree Style Tabs is that the nesting gets unwieldy. I have been meaning to check out Vertical Tabs ( https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/vertical-tabs... ). It's by the same developer who made BarTab.

I think that the browser footprint is fairly large, but as you open more tabs it uses proportionately less ram per tab (though it must level off at some point). I'm using 15 extensions (the only one of yours I'm not using is diigo), I doub
