You are right on the money when it comes to how this works. They will deliver, but it will be this, not what the blog author claims they should deliver.

There are many excellent generators on that page, but Anamnesis is my favourite - a noir, sci-fi world awaits: http://mynoise.net/NoiseMachines/anamnesisSoundscapeGenerato...

A little OT, but the contrast between SpaceX and The Spaceship Company is striking. Elon Musk is pushing for interstellar travel, while Branson is pushing for space tourism. Seems so petty in comparison.

I get this as well. In my experience these are people who just don't like what they're doing (and are also often bad at it), so they try to undermine every decision. I haven't found a good way of dealing with this so I'd

Yeah, Red Hat is really bleeding money from the all the lost sales caused by CentOS. I can't believe they only made a puny 1.53 billion dollar in revenue last year.. </sarcasm> http://investors.redhat.com/fin

Finally some movement on this! It really feels like an inferior experience in 2015 when your browser freezes from an unresponsive javascript in another tab.

Very neat! Maybe add in a DNS service on top? Being able to map server.myname.com for private use would be a great feature.

1.) There are some pretty nifty frontend editing demos that show you what the site will look like on desktop, table and mobile at once, I don't see that as a big problem. Don't really agree with it being a metaphor since most fron

hey joseph, I read your post, and empathize with the notion of "less is more". The problem arises when you want to extend Void. Instead of providing a good way to do so (using templates and a hook system), you force people to code

Well it could be 5 lines of code. To edit the output you would have to fork the project for no good reason. Templating exists so you don't have to do stuff like that. Regarding dependencies, you can provide a pre-built zip archive with

I am pro PHP, but this is honestly an awful display of PHP usage. Templates mixed with logic inside the main php file? Check. Not using Composer for dependency management? Check. Reinventing the wheel when it comes to routing instead of usi

Having worked for a long time with block-based editors in systems like Drupal and WordPress, We've found that there is a big limitation - the editor is detached from the authoring experience. We're moving on to front-end editing,

This is completely correct. On smaller sites, we're usually seeing 1% of total time spent in database, the rest being PHP. With larger sites, this increases a bit to around 5% because larger databases take longer to return queries.

The mysql extension is not dangerous in any way, don't spread FUD. The reason for not deprecating it sooner is that very large projects depend on it. These projects may have been ten years in the makings and aren't in any way unsa

Providing sanitization functions 10 years ago is broken to you? If you check my earlier post you'll see that prepared statements are widely used nowadays. Escaping functions like htmlentities() are also still effective. You are right,

Does Perl, Python or Ruby have built-in automatic escaping and sanitization? I would not call PHP less safe than any of these languages. On top of that all three of those languages require additional setup. (Especially Ruby with RoR shudde

My Samsung Smart TV has bundled apps as well, but they are often not very good and don't receive updates. For example, I can't get 1080p Ultra with Netflix on my built-in TV app, but Chromecast provides it.
