I find undocumented opcodes most interesting. They were literally holes in the 6502 circuitry. People used them on the C64 to get more speed out of their assembly code. Early C64 emulators couldn't cope with those games/demos. Luckily, they

Nothing about Overture, nothing about shutting down Yahoo Auctions. Not a very good article.

I think Groupon has one small problem, and that's when they sell a holiday in Wales in an offer in, say, Sheffield. So the business isn't actually in the city it's selling into. Also, Groupon offering deals in towns (not just cities) would

My point was that formatting a 800kb disk to 1600kb (as you could on the Archimedes) is likely to - and in my experience has - corrupt after a few days of use, and thus is not worth the amount of money saved. Luckily it was just copied game

I did this on an Acorn Archimedes disk and though okay at first, the floppy got corrupted after a few days. Bad idea!

Does anyone know of a Perl-like strings library for C? Perl's string replacing code is miles better than anything I can find for C. For instance, the PCRE library provides Perl compatible regular expressions. Why not the same for strings?

I should have said more. I wanted this domain, and it points to Google, but it's owned by some other guy. My point is, why does it point to Google? I think that's odd. Maybe it's not very interesting though. ;-)

I know the CDDB guy from an unrelated mailing list to do with binary translation - a hobby of his. When I asked him for business advice, he told me get a good lawyer. Good advice!

I got a notice from teamhint, very pleased as I wasn't sure which email I used for posting to Gawker/Valleywag. I then changed my main logins under that email.

However, it would be useful for the higher-level logic - like a print function. You decompile calls to this function, no matter how the function works.

I've written a decompiler with a custom template for the 6502 (the idea is all CPUs are fundamentally the same, from x86 to 6502, so you just define a CPU as instructions affecting flags, etc, and have custom functions for, eg., Vax CPUs).

I've kept email since I switched from Hotmail to POP3 in about 1998. The wonderful bit is I wrote a desktop application which scans any number of hard drives and finds all mail in the main 5 formats (Mbox, Kmail files, Outlook <2003, Ou

I should say here that I too have the 'old version' problem: The software to send samples to my Akai hardware sampler only runs on Windows 98. I have a Windows 98 PC just for this!
