Given that list, if I was as successful as they require for this, I wouldn't want to sell!

I recently emailed Oracle to give me a quote for Berkeley DB, so I could use it commercially. The response? Absolutely None!

And there's a subtle joke at the end - that he's given a MARKETING position rather than a programming one!

I want to clarify that this is a reference to the TV show Boston Legal, where William Shatner's named partner in a law firm, says his own name frequently, as if to say 'I'm Denny Crane and I'm the best'.

As I keep saying on HN, if people hosted 9mb clips on their own webserver, with Flash video streaming technology, there would be no way of censoring it. Not quite off-topic, but related is: Can you currently stream Flash video off an Apache

I just finished reading a book about David Geffen (The Operator by Tom King). Apparently DreamWorks-SKG's burn rate for the first few years was $400 million a year, which is actually less than YouTube is costing Google.

Isn't Twitter's role to do with subsidising the cost of sending thousands of SMS messages? Rather than the actual software that sends them...

"only 3 great universities have emerged." Do you mean Oxford, Cambridge, UCL? Oxford & Cambridge are not 1 university, there are a lot of different colleges.

I recently discovered that you can pay freelancers for 2 hours work on a small problem [an edge case], and save yourself 10 hours. You don't even have to pay stock, as people are pleased to be paid $80 for an hour's work. EDIT: However, kno

I previously mentioned that if video was just a 9mb file on someone's website, like a HTML page or GIF, it would kill YouTube. I'm not sure about the bandwidth requirements for the more popular sites, though.
