This begs the question - what's out there that America fears so much as to carry attacks like this out?

Indeed. Its funny how HN bashes on him, and then gets enraged about Obama's wiretapping! This man saw it coming and we ridiculed him for his fear - look at where we are now.

This is awesome, thanks for the writeup. I love that Mozilla devs and Google (among many other people), keep pushing the boundaries on JavaScript. Even in just one year, its astonishing how much the web has changed..

Well said. Why is it even a relevant question as to whether PhDs in math/computing earn more/less than their counterparts with masters' degrees? Equating a degree with a level of economic productivity is illogical.

I don't understand the purpose of this website. Yes, universities, the government and certain institutions fail at science (we all are aware of the publishing rat race and countless instances of misplaced priorities). However, scientific pr

The title of this article is very exaggerated and needlessly so. The only reason you see awful retention numbers is because it's so easy to sign up. Even if I'm only partially interesting in a class, I'll sign up. I often sign up for 4 or 5

Hey there, for what its worth: Try and start building a portfolio if you're having trouble finding a job. You're 22 years old - don't worry if it involved bi*chwork; the best thing you can do is ditch any sense of entitlement, and I'm not s

I think the fear people have in choosing a larger company is that they're going to miss out on working with smart people on interesting problems, having work-ownership, etc. This was my personal fear. I've worked at 2 early-stage "prestigio

Well, both "lost". Foursquare doesn't really turn a profit, or if it does, I think it's insignificant? Now that I think of it, the relevant lesson from this is that investors are fallible.

Why do we care about cheating undergrads at Harvard again? I'd care about an article on Harvard undergrads if they were actually doing something I care about! Post about that if you want to.

Actually, what she says makes total sense to me. I have an anecdote. After 9/11 (I look Eastern enough to face discrimination) a lot of my family and friends faced discrimination - some of them joined support groups, others campaigned, etc.
