Can we all appreciate the fact that this game was developed/produced by Tim Sweeney, who is still very active in Video Game development. I don't know of anyone else who's tenure in the industry is 30+ years.

Isn’t it being pushed through by ultra religious and right wing groups? While I admit I don’t understand the Israeli high courts I do understand the impact of zealous right wing groups forcing unpopular changes to the basic function of the

I recall playing this back in the day. It was super cool. My Dad pulled it from the DEC internal file sharing service and brought it home. I long believed that it was a figment of my imagination until I heard that ID had developed a demo fo

I don't understand the smugness of Software Engineers' belief that pure remote is the only option. It seems short-sighted. If everything is remote then companies don't care where they hire from. Whats the difference between y

I know that this is not a popular opinion here. I think its hard to put the genie back in the bottle, but I also think a tremendous amount of innovation happens in person. Existing companies will probably continue to operate just fine, but

I didn’t go to Harvard but lived in Cambridge and had a bunch of friends there. Everyone I met was pretty fucking smart, but I guess that could be selection bias.

I’m so glad all over my elderly family members have locked down iPhones and iPads. Remember all that tech support you had to do back in Windows 98 days? Modern devices are too complex for most people to really grok. The only sane solution i

Yeah I also remember this. My Dad was at DEC/Compaq at the time and had access to the Windows NT prerelease. He was explaining to me why it was cool, but as an 8 year old I didn't really get it.

I agree, Monads don't solve everything, but if we're being pedantic then I would argue that in a functional context you would almost never write fn doTheThing() -> void, raises Error SomeVal x = try doSomethingFallibly()

The DEC Alpha was a 64 bit CPU architecture that came out in 1992. Java support it from Java 1.0 to ~ Java 3 Interestingly, I can't find any information on Google about this, but ChatGPT does support this. Unfortunately all the primary

Even if this is true is it a problem? It obviously has limited how Amazon can scale the product, but I don't think its a scandal worthy of a "gate" suffix. It's just a product/engineering issue. I'm sure someon

Sure there were some real gun mods in doom, but the gun sprite resolution was crap, the limitations of the engine added limitations to map design and while multi-player was possible it wasn't anything like the post-quakeworld era.
