I'm not sure for DHT. But in Firebase the permissions are handled as user access rules written in Javascript, returning boolean true or false if the user has the ability to read/write the node and if the data being written passes

I'm curious about how to have kids in the face of failure. My truth is that I'm caught in a turbulent stream of life where I can have anything I want except success. It's a strange feeling to have time or money (but never bot

Also I wonder if additional transparency could work as an opposing force to moneyed interests. We could petition the government to create a realtime spreadsheet of all donations and lobbying so we could query it and see the entire money cha

Oh that's a good idea. I was thinking that there should be an open source object recognizer that can sort any material (kind of like a 3D printer). But having cameras on recycle bins would be great. Used cell phones could do it. There

I would love to work on something similar for sorting plastics for recycling. I wish there was an organization like Uber for organizing groups to do this in every city, along with finding funding to pay developers (> $100/developer_

If you're building a library or framework, then just assume that worst-case performance will be encountered by your users, because you can't predict their use cases. So for example, I almost always use associative arrays (maps) in

I'm deeply concerned about the direction that the tech world is going. I had hoped that early successes like eBay and PayPal would lead to democratization and egalitarianism, but sadly that's not the case. Where I had hoped to see

You bring up a really good point about backing. Banks generally don't give out loans to any kind of small business that doesn't have > $100,000 in assets and/or some indication of past profitability. Note that this represe

I'm more concerned about the discrimination in finance/lending, which is thoroughly entrenched at this point. Anyone can borrow $50,000 for a new car, $500,000 for a new home, or $5,000,000 in venture capital if they are connected

"Liberty and justice for all" means that liberty isn't the only thing we should be talking about. We are in a time of great injustice in the US (and the rest of the world), perhaps even higher than during the Gilded Age and t
