Twitter's request looks like business as usual. They are protecting their trademark like they are supposed to, and following up on their TOS. The letter wasn't threatening or full of legalese either. I don't see Twitter as the bad guy her

I suppose this has its place for simple fixed width designs, but when you need something more flexible I love YUI grids (which they seem to be responding to with this simpler grids css)

Completely agree. Public opinion seems to be so easily polarized (a feedback effect?) it is pleasant to read something that comes off as a casual defense to it

Happy users tend to share links with friends, and depending on the site, contribute content. If keeping a user happy means a decline in impressions and a bump in click-though rate, so be it.

You are talking about replacing a large number of unskilled labor positions with a small number of skilled positions. I do not see this as avoidable (nor do I believe it should be avoided) but this process is not quick nor is it painless.
