I bought one for myself for Christmas a few years ago. I disliked it so much I ended up returning it. My use case was to use it for notes (bullet journal) and as an eReader. It was ok for taking notes, but for the money it needed to be amaz

Yea YouTube performance is nuts! It seems to be exacerbated when playing in full screen or @2x speed as well. Google has been getting better though with supporting FF. They now support Hangouts on FF and Gmail is actually faster for me in F

I second your comment. I'm sure the developer learned so much from building this and skills learned can definitely be applied to other aspects of their career.

I've been doing intermittent fasting on and off for years now. In the past few months, I have become more extreme and am doing OMAD (One Meal a Day). I typically do a 23/1 fast where I only eat within a 1 hour period (dinner). The

Disclaimer: I am an organizer of a GDG, but these opinions are my own. Google has a cloud text to speech API that supports streaming audio. Google blows Amazon out of the water here with accuracy, speed, and features at the same price or ch

Side Note: Google has been the champion of PWAs which main use case is to be able to bypass an app store and install an app directly from a website. This gives Google less control over the app ecosystem but has the potential to be beneficia

I understand where this article and app developers are coming from. There is a big difference in what Google and Apple do in this ecosystem, however. Apple basically says that any digital goods purchased through an iOS app needs to pay Appl

This is actually something that I've been saying about myself for years - which I discovered through my own observations when I was in high school. Long story short, I was in a "dual-enrollment" program which allowed me to ta

The K80s are super outdated now. Google used to offer them for free for 12hrs a day on their Colab platform, but they upgraded them to using the Tesla T4s. Note you can get a K80 on GCP (unreserved) for $.45/hr. This is a good deal.

I agree. Mark is knowledgeable and attentive. Given that they are a small player in a big space, they are very sensitive to customer issues and really strive to provide great service and uptime.

What I like about static sites is that you can serve the site in its entirety from a CDN. So you can literally just CNAME www.yoursite.com to yoursite.gitlab.io (or w/e static site host you use). This dramatically cuts down on latency

My recommendation here is to wait a couple of months until Ryzen 3 comes out in laptops. While an IPC boost is nice (rumors are between 10% - 20%) the real reason I say this is because the new 7nm process should net a significant reduction

I work out of own of the first coworking spaces in the country, Indy Hall. I have been a member of it since 2012. I can say hands down that going there was the true catalyst to my professional career. Unlike most high tech "fancy"

That is just sad. Even if you weren’t dyslexic everyone messes up by misspelling a word and spending much more time than they should debugging. As a manager I would spend my time trying to figure out how we can help you reduce the likelihoo

Yea, I agree. I'm pretty sure you could just plug in a Radeon VII as an eGPU, however. I've also heard that NVIDIA cards can work as eGPUs as well.

I'm pretty sure it's a cooling issue. An 8-core CPU running at 5GHz generates a lot of heat - it's likely they can't dissipate it fast enough and encounter thermal throttling issues with higher end chips. I would _assume
