You can browse available Nix packages here: https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/tree/master/pkgs ...and search here if you're looking for something in particular: https://github.com/Nix

Nix groups all of your installed packages in one environment. When you install a new package, it creates a new environment with the new package added to it. This alone may sound insignificant, but it enables having multiple nix environments

Ah, this explanation is the most cogent to me. So does the Elm runtime and/or compiler manage this as an event or callback under the hood?

I haven't dabbled in Elm much, but subscriptions look a lot like ordinary JS event handlers: Time.every second Tick vs. Time.on('everySecond', tick) Beyond baking an event emitter into the Time module and ha

Much like the sort algorithm that downloads and evals Stack Overflow answers until the list is sorted, someone should make a build tool that Googles any error output, installs possible patches, and restarts the build. It could even see if a

Indeed. After looking in the right places I was able to get the 300-page shop manual for my motorcycle. Everything is very well diagramed and OEM parts are readily available online for not much money.

Maybe your application isn't that complex, and it's more succinctly modeled as as an object or two with mutable state. (E.g. a media player.) Maybe your application is simpler to model as a mutable assembly of little pieces, where

You make a good point about bisecting. (Although I guess if you're too overzealous with rebasing you'll arrive at the commit you're looking for and it will be huge. Balance in everything yadda yadda yadda.)

No, leftpad has four test cases and they are all obvious, given the leftpad API. Would I write tests for my own leftpad implementation if I were not farming it out to a dependency? Its possible. More likely I would want to understand the in

I believe most (all?) states now have implied consent laws, under the rationale that driving is a privilege not a right. So declining a field sobriety test may in fact lead to the same penalties as failing one. (Maybe worth a shot though?)
