Moving the file elsewhere won't fix it. They are serving terabytes of traffic on Access Denied, it won't go away if that changes to "Not Found" instead, the developers seem already entirely ready to ignore their adblocke

It could. Probably not for most minor bumps but reinsertion in the slot is more likely to cause issues than small bumps once insertion forces are being applied constantly. Hence the BIOS has to check.

The Moon Kerberos of Pluto is actually very very close to the size of the sun in the sky (of by being 0.0099° compared to the suns 0.0089°, around 11%), so the earth isn't the only planet (if you count Pluto as planet, otherwise, but i

What if you reinsert the same RAM stick into the same slot? Minute differences in insertion force and direction can lead to the frequency response of the RAM stick changing. Data paths might now be a micrometer long and require the BIOS to

On some level, the BIOS has to determine if new chips have appeared on the bus. But also check that conditions haven't changed. If you took out a RAM stick and inserted it into the same slot, the conditions (due to dust, moisture, diff

Training becomes more complex as you approach higher frequency domains. It's not simply a trivial binary search anymore as there is more than a few parameters (how fast the clock has to rise, how long you can and must hold clock and da

The Schröder Government pushed for massive reforms to install Gas heating in homes. At the time this was more efficient than nighttime electric boiler heating, wood heaters or oil boilers. A modern caloric gas oven is fairly efficient overa

If the index is censored, nothing stops you from adding to the index yourself. The vast majority of the net is, after all, now indexed, so you can run your own indexer to cover whatever they didn't cover.

This does seem to be the goal of the project. They mention that they want to make a centralized control panel and crawler, where you can control how your website is crawled and when But at the end of the day the resulting dataset would be s

XPG4 still exists and haunts my days as sysadmin. Gonna pop a whiskey on the day we get rid of the last Solaris machine in favor of Linux.

Well yes and no, the topmost reason is that rural folk simply are very eurosceptic there (see polls on that matter) and the election system favors them a bit, so overall, the eurosceptic parties remain in power (for now). Though I've y

Iceland is not in the EU. They are in the process of joining since like a decade but have never completed their application. They are in the EFTA and the EEA however.

Not sure what your point there is? EVs are still fixed-gear ratio and provide maximum torque over the entire range. The graph you linked just shows that?

Downshift Braking is Engine Braking, it's the same thing. And there is absolutely no reason an EV motor could not emulate the exact same behaviour as a stick shift. It's all electronic, you could just emulate the behaviour of a st

How is regenerative breaking not the same as engine breaking? Other than the lack of ICE in the EV, the engine is being used to slow down the vehicle, it has the exact same effect.

Yeah in Germany that doesn't work. You have the right to a lawyer, even in civil action, even if you are suing, even if you are suing the government or the government is suing you. If you cannot afford a lawyer, the state pays it, you

I would argue you have better feedback and can understand better how it works than manual. There is a fixed ratio gear connecting motor and wheels. Simpler than clutch and transmission by miles. The motor works with electricity and a motor

I am sure that doesn't change the argument at all, most electric motors don't need 500ms to apply force.

Most EV motors are fairly flat, but as you mention, they use software to further flatten in. Reality is; the torque curve is nearly perfectly flat.

The electric motor just turns into a generator and charges the battery. Engine breaking with an EV is literally refilling your tank, so to speak. The modern EVs are pretty smart about it and will also apply the breaks sneakily if the engine

I will point out that modern electrics don't do automatic anymore. The "automatic" transmission is all software. There is a fixed gear ratio. EV motors have almost perfectly flat torque curves across the entire RPM spectrum.

I've given up with manual, as a technology, since I've used an EV that didn't have any switching transmission. Just fixed gear ratio. The feeling is better than manual. You always have full power available. There is no RPM re

It should be noted that atleast in Germany, you can't just run up the lawyer bills. There are standard rates and you only pay "necessary costs". That means one lawyer. At standard rate. And only for what they did in the court

Being owned and unsafe feels like the most natural fit. If multiple threads (or the interrupt handler) manipulate a register while you're already working on it could leave you in a very undefined state you have no idea about. In this c
