Scaling issues can present themselves in numerous ways which may not require an in-memory DB, sharding/partitioning, hot/cold or such to be changed, they may even be already present. In a lot of cases, these can be used and added

Don't do anything obviously complex with your RDBMS and migrations are free. If all you need is a few views, tables and FKs, then migration between RDBMS' should be low effort if you have a decent RSM or ORM to plug behind it. And

GDPR violations aren't a crime. You can be fined multiple times for the same issue if you, for example, are being a complete ass towards the DPA or you refuse to fix underlying issues.

FB is being blocked by the Irish DPA, since EU FB is HQ'd there. Sadly this one loophole made it into the GDPR, so the other DPA's can only forward to the Irish agency for FB issues.

Notifying banks will likely be required by their payment processor, not by the GDPR, those are two separate processes.

For catastrophic failures the fines certainly become very large very quickly. And follow up fines if behaviour isn't changed do go up as well. So far, it's usually the former as most companies adjust by their first fine.

What a lot of people probably don't realize is that stimulants like Coffee (or even Speed) depend on the brain's structure. ADHD Brains work differently and they respond different to stimulants. And people don't like it when

In my experience, it is possible but the process isn't exactly geared towards people who actually suffer from ADHD. Getting an appointment via telephone can already be a struggle if you obtained Socanx due to ADHD symptoms (and the pla

I've heard this so often, even from family. "It sounds like things everybody has to deal with". It's infinitely more difficult with ADHD. I use phone apps to remind myself of everyday things and track my shopping lists.

Even with modern weather prediction technology and windsocks, it can happen that airplane encounter very unexpected wind drafts up or down during takeoff or landing. Sometimes you just have bad luck.

The device limit is enforce on Mullvad's side already. It's 5 devices, even if you use other client (tracked by simultanously connecting IPs IIRC with some leeway for spikes).

They took code from the official Tracing app without attribution or retaining the copyright notice, which even 2-clause BSD would frown upon. And the original code is APL2.0, not BSD, you can't just sublicense like that.

I don't worry about port scanners. If your infrastructure becomes less secure because of a port scanner, it's not very well secured. Sending a REJECT is cheap, no DDoS opportunity and helps browsers and other apps fail over fast.

Browsers accept a root CA with long lifetime. Certs signed by CAs installed by the user or admin also allow long lifetimes (probably will still for a while).

You can simply send a ICMP Rejected Message, which should direct your browser to immediately try any fallbacks or other hosts. Timeouts occur when you incorrectly configure your firewall to drop packets instead of rejecting.

If you keep your CA secure, no reason that you can't set the expiration of the root cert to something like 10 years.

Tbh, for stable rust you don't need to do anything. Breaking changes to the stdlib or the compiler are incredibly rare (because the rust team tests against public crates to see if there is breakage). You will get broken code if you rel

AC causes radio emissions (which is lost power), it doesn't affect the magnetic field unless it forms coils. And most coils on AC will be put into iron cores to contain them nice and close to where they belong. Even then an AC coil doe

AC above 100 Volts kills quickly too. It can actually kill more easily. You need about 4 times as much DC current going through the body compared to AC. 220Volt DC is safer than 220Volt AC. This is in part because our body (specifically the

DC-DC is fine at lower amperages, once you go into a few kW, then it gets more difficult. DC - AC - AC - DC has the advantage that you can use a transformer to shift voltage levels, which does this very efficiently, usually between 95% and
