I have a presentation on this topic. https://presentations.clickhouse.com/meetup107/app/ Starting from slide 19, "How is it possible," explains why we need such a parody.

This is a good article! In ClickHouse, interval arithmetic is applied to index analysis. A sparse index consists of granules, and each granule is an interval of tuples in lexicographic order. This interval is decomposed into a union of hype

Round rectangles can look not round enough on low-DPI displays, and the colors can also be wrong due to incorrect averaging in non-linear color space. Example: https://github.com/ClickHouse/ClickHouse/pull/334

I have tested Rockset for competitive analysis. Good parts: It has a slick and nice-looking UI. Good documentation. Many data loading options (including S3). SQL support is good (Calcite?). Types are inferred on data loading. But you have t

Thank you, that's interesting. A small feedback about the website - it uses the "Space Mono" font for the installation snippet - it is a monospace font, but surprisingly, it collapses "fi" into a ligature, making th

It does not work. AggregatedDataVariants - no matches ClearableHashMap - no matches Volnitsky - didn't find usages in ClickHouse The search speed is not impressive - it takes a few seconds to answer a query.

I often do it with ClickHouse, which has HTTP API included in the database server. For example, https://play.clickhouse.com/ is an open public playground, and https://adsb.exposed/ is a full-featured applic

Thank you. I didn't hear about dblab before. Added a bug fix: https://github.com/danvergara/dblab/pull/206 and a feature request: https://github.com/danvergara/dblab/issues/

I did a similar project before, https://adsb.exposed/ . It does not need a GPU database, it analyzes 70 billion traces in real-time, and is trivial to implement.

This looks surprisingly similar to my project, https://github.com/ClickHouse/adsb.exposed/ , but more complex and less performant.

This looks similar to my project https://github.com/ClickHouse/adsb.exposed/ , which allows us to analyze this data in real-time and is much simpler and elegant.

It's better because it minimizes the UI. You get the same experience as in the text editor, such as Notepad or Kate, with no fluff.

You don't have to write `count()` in ClickHouse - `count(*)` is also ok. ... while `count()` makes more sense from the engineering perspective: it is an aggregate function that takes zero number of arguments. I personally prefer `count

My point is near the opposite. Data formats should apply lightweight compression, such as lz4, by default because it could be beneficial even if the data is read from RAM. I have made a presentation about it: https://presentation

Asynchronous INSERTs are available in the open-source ClickHouse version and in ClickHouse Cloud. The feature is independent of the Cloud. To enable asynchronous INSERTs, set `async_insert` to true. Here is the documentation: https:/&

The reason is trivial - I disabled the new feature flag on the playground service long ago (when it was in development). I will enable it back and send an example.

Is it possible to pull historical data out of Snowflake? If it is an option - you can place it in ClickHouse and use a materialized view to JOIN with the historical table during insertion into the real-time table.
