Maybe this should be "second-person tetris" since you rotate with the block. I would expect a first-person tetris to offer either a view from the POV of the blocks downward, or from the base upwards at the blocks headed my way.

You are overdoing Flash. Theres _no_ reason why something like job listings should be done in Flash when good old HTML would do.

self-update: there's apparently some plugin development kit that will allow OpenGL ES access. "We have been working closely with a handful of partners as we refine the PDK's design and initial implementation, but we'll be expanding soon. A

I think you meant "Learn a new programming language in 2010" since Haskell is on that list. I cannot imagine learning Haskell to any "useful" degree in anything less than 3 months.

FYI if you are into the bleeding edge, redis has a virtual memory implementation as of about 12 hours ago.

Indeed! I made one iPhone app last year, gave it away for free, got a lot of exposure, and have been doing enough consulting to (finally) leave my day job @ Y! and focus on my own big (iPhone related) project.

Could you elaborate on your comment about targeting companies bad at capacity planning? I did not get that from the interview at least. Also, I am considering using them and wonder how I might be implicitly bad at capacity planning :)

Indeed, NS and SL look like similar offers (maybe not apples to oranges, but perhaps tangerines to oranges). Here's a SL offer similar to the NS Medium offer: SL Bare Metal: 8 x 2.0 GHz Core Bare Metal Instance 8 GB RAM 1000 M

I became interested in NewServers while looking for affordable dedicated server hosting providers. I am personally less interested in "cloud" scalability for my pet project, and more in getting a "decent" quality dedicated server or 3 for

Thank you for explaining how compaction works in greater detail. As I understand it, the "buffer" used for write queries (and more) while compaction is active is in-memory, correct, an ArrayList? http://github.com/mmcgrana/fleetdb/blob/ma

What is the point of this blurb? It has no real "meat" nor is it a review of any sort.

There is nothing new here. A DBA does not like that a database is subjectively misused, and then gets pissy and arrogant about it. E.g., "You’re just being lazy or scared of SQL." I'm not a fan or O/R-Ms myself but I do not feel compelled

This looks rather neat! I like to think that I know enough Clojure to decipher that the database and metadata is locked during compaction. Is this true? See http://github.com/mmcgrana/fleetdb/blob/master/src/clj/fleet... I wrote somethi

Neat bug but hardly what I would consider "crazy". The source code was available for tracing (and that's how the root cause was made clear). I don't consider a bug to be "crazy" unless the word "volatile" is involved :)
