When someone finally rules the world, what will they do next?

That's fair about the history of teaching C++. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Why OO? Why C++ so early in the curriculum? These seem like very specific/opinionated tools. I got a degree in math without ever taking a “HP 48GX” course.

As an ex-"backend-only-ignore-ux" developer, I find this quite helpful. Excellent work. Thank you.

Nice thing about a (public) rubber ducking channel is you can just send a message to someone saying e.g. “I tried fixing the problem staring here… does that all make sense?”

Best luck I've ever had "taking notes" was borrowing an idea from a former co-worker. He just rubber ducked everything in a personal Slack channel. You get time-centric notes, with the ability to link backwards to former thre

Helpful article. Since I’ve avoided directly coding in JS for a while: So getters and setters add complexity and ambiguity to avoid typing “()”? Did I get that right?

Speaking of one liners... is there a way to get w3m or lynx to print a PRETTY formatted output to the console and exit? Seems all the dump commands are for plain text. Hoping someone here knows as this arcane knowledge doesn’t seem to exist

That's outside of my bag o' tricks. There was definitely some pain getting things to work to satisfaction in the Jetbrains tools. In a few cases I simply had to adopt a different workflow. But I'm feeling pretty happy about i

I just use the vim plugin in Jetbrains products. I get vim navigation, editing modes, basic macros. Vim emulation is not thorough, so I can’t get more complex features, but they seem unnecessary when I get Jetbrains features.

I’ve been away from Linux for a while. So Microsoft is involved here, and Google’s Dart/Flutter is also a key foundational component? Am I understanding that right?

Best experiences for me so far have been: Elm on the front talking to Firebase via ports, and Elm on the front talking to a backend via GraphQL. Still a fan of relational databases and SQL. I think Rails apps can get out of hand very qui

This is the question!!! I’ve been coding for 25+ years. In high school my dad would get me summer jobs doing highly repetitive assembly line work. Like, the same motions all summer. I spent years being a pretty serious into rock climbing. A

Interesting perspective. Without agreeing or disagreeing, I wonder where, on which ladder I’d want to be. Old Money is probably best, but, I don’t really have a choice. Seems Michael Scott is the next best option.
