Serious question, as I don't really have a strong opinion on zero rating either way: In a scenario where zero-rating is available to all actors at equivalent prices, is there still a problem? It would raise the barrier to entry for int

It's as if you didn't read the comment above where I said that "I have no idea if Terry would like to work or not."

How would I be underestimating him? If anything, I'm underestimating his potential employers. There's a digital fossil record of what he's said online at this point, and the average hiring manager will probably just throw him

As the commenter I believe you are quoting, I think you are reading a little too much into what I said. Nobody implied helplessness as a being, or that Terry should be compelled to enter gainful employment. I think it would be insane not to

I don't know if this is true. I find it extremely unlikely that the average employer would even consider employing someone with apparent mental health issues, so it's possible many people in similar situations just give up. I don&

I don't think there's sure evidence either way, but I did read this line: > Unable to work, he collects Social Security disability and spends most of his time coding, web surfing, or using the output... I have no idea if Terry

I wonder if there is something the programming community could do to help him. I'm not sure what this could entail, but I'd hope there are people who would be willing to talk with him about his interests or attempt to set up some

It's very real. I've installed it in a VM and played around for a while - it's technically very impressive and has a HUGE number of utilities and weird little features.

I wonder what institutional[0] NSA motives could have been in the unlikely event there is a link. I'm guessing fundamental security weaknesses in BTC would have been discovered by now, so there's probably no hope of ensnaring th

Probably because the Netflix UI experience has a lot of inertia - there's a Netflix frontend on every TV or device sold nowadays, I'm guessing a feature has to be ESSENTIAL if they're going to make new GUIs for every modern s

Having built Cardboard myself, but used an Oculus DK1 for about 10 minutes, I can tell you for sure that even the first Oculus is a totally different order of magnitude of product compared to Cardboard-style devices. I'm not really a p

No. I'm sick of these comments. Articles from sources like Washington Post, NYT, and The Economist, which are often high quality, constantly get branded with some form of this complaint. It is so easy to avoid the paywall: any major b

Computation is not defined by difficulty for a human. It is closer to being defined by the ability to follow a (possibly arbitrary) decision procedure. In this violin method, a human is required to follow a decision procedure, unlike in a p

Wouldn't the human then be performing frequency analysis, not the violin itself? You seem to be conflating decomposition of a signal with generation of the same, and Fourier analysis with a lot of things. How does one take a "Four
