Here in Sweden, roughly 50% of all small houses (ie one household) have a heat pump. Direct electricity heating is just somewhere around 15%. In bigger houses direct electricity just isn't a thing, most have some sort of central heatin

Sigh. IPC matter when you are comparing within the same architecture, as that means the comparative performance vs other cores of the same architecture ends up (somewhat simplified) as IPC * frequency. It is utterly irrelevant when comparin

I would recommend you get into the habit of making small improvements that fly under the radar while doing other tasks. It may not fix big architectural issues, but it will still help with making the code base more understandable and less b

I feel this is missing the elephant in the room, which is that experts are not interchangeable. They have typically specialized in whatever they have spent lots on time doing, and so developers in different sectors develop a lot of differen

Merging a change to the CoC without any input at all from any well known long time members of the Ruby core team make me guess the committer is going to get a stern talking to.

To be fair, looking at what kind of optimizations they did to improve the situation, it looks like GQL is not to blame but rather a pretty big disconnect between their implementation practices and understanding about what is costly and what
