TFA talks about how pervasive Digital ID (no quotes) systems are in everyday life, with multiple examples, feels very concrete and not at all vague.

For anyone looking for more modern terminal file managers: my favorite is yazi since it has great preview capabilities out of the box and requires zero config, but other alternatives are nnn, ranger, walk and lf.

This is cool, looks visually a lot like a CIDR range calculator [1] I built a few years ago to help me understand network ranges better. These types of visualizations are super useful. [1] - https://cidr.xyz

Obligatory mention of A Philosophy of Software Design by John Ousterhout as the arguably the most important book every developer should read to understand proper modularization and complexity management.

These types of errors are not only rare in one-shots, but also very easy to fix in subsequent iterations - e.g. Claude Code with Sonnet rarely makes these errors.

Seems like so much over (prompt) engineering. I get by just fine with pasting raw code or errors and asking plain questions, the models are smart enough to figure it out themselves.

Been building Namekit [1] — a simple tool that uses AI + a small proprietary model to generate domain name ideas and surface only the ones that are immediately available. I got tired of bloated name generators with useless suggestions, so I

It's mentioned in the post, but worth mentioning again, how Linus' tech talk at Google introducing git [1] is still an amazing talk to watch to understand how git came to be. [1] - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4

No real groundbreaking insight, but an interesting overview nonetheless. My takeaway is that, zooming out from software, society at large is living in a state of ever-increasing complexity. We see this in politics, economics, public infrast

Literally any PC can, I just finished a full initial sync, fully indexed, on a very lean box (Intel Pentium Silver, 16GB) in less than 24 hours. Assume ~700GB of disk space, and otherwise it's nothing. You can also run a pruned node if
