I got flagged for replying "No." to this comment ( https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=29962626 ). Did that really deserve to get flagged? No.

I had movers a couple months ago and tried to tip them. Note that I don't ever carry cash and am a proponent of abolishing the Federal Reserve. I asked them for their Ethereum or Bitcoin address, and they said, "neither of us don&

Maybe you should start with ordinary differential equations if you've forgotten calculus.

Unquestionably the best Beatles solo album? Ummm, no. Plastic Ono Band is the best solo album, and the second is Ram. All Things Must Pass is somewhere up there, but most of it is boring filler.

Here's an experiment: take two bugs. Pour alcohol on one and a protein shake on another. Which one do you think will be more biologically destructive?

I always scoffed at people who believed "a glass of wine every night is good for you." It seems pretty obvious that ingesting literal poison every day is not good for you.

I'm not saying that enthusiasts can't be idiots, too. But the naysayers arguing against strawmen enthusiasts is getting pretty annoying, and it's pretty clear most of those people don't even know the technical definition

I agree with both of you guys. It's clear to me that this sort of decentralization will prove to be revolutionary. People who immediately equate NFTs with JPEGs are idiots and don't get it. They won't get it until they'r

Oh yeah, the comparisons of Bitcoin with XML and a train wreck are much better and much more accurate than the commenter's analogies.

So because Bitcoin hasn't overtaken fiat currency as the de facto international standard means it's a failure? All of the critics in this thread sure have some narrow goalposts, don't they?

If all JSON is YAML but not all YAML is JSON, then YAML is a superset of JSON.

Well, it's annoying and usually arrogant. Just like people who put Ph.D. in their LinkedIn or Twitter names. I don't care that you have a Ph.D., and if you flaunt it, I'll think you're dumber than someone with a bachelor

So this is a little funny, but I just got my Thinkpad X1 Carbon a few days ago with Fedora preinstalled. I booted it up to the Fedora installation, then the machine rebooted. After it rebooted, a Windows loading screen appeared, followed by

"Most people," huh? You sure are an expert on what "most people" think. Maybe just replace that phrase with "I" if you want to stop being intellectually dishonest.

Thanks for putting this more eloquently than I could. This is an important point that I didn't state. There are passages in Moby Dick that are indeed beautiful, but the first thing I think of when I hear Moby Dick is how painful it is

If you're looking for something shorter and more readable about whaling, I'd recommend In the Heart of the Sea. The (nonfiction) story told there was used by Melville as inspiration for Moby Dick. Unlike Moby Dick, that was a book
