Actually even C++ can benefit from this. In LLVM C++ coroutines compile down to functions with the "musttail" attribute, that right now is not possible to express in Wasm [1]. It is also useful to efficiently implement stuff like

Well the comparison here is between openldap and lldap. I would use either as a backend for Authelia. But I found Authelia reasonably simple to use too.

I have been using lldap for a while (paired with Authelia), and it is a real godsend. I feel like I need a PhD to configure openldap, while this was as out of the box as it gets. Kudos to the devs!

The article mentions WebAssembly as having the same issue as spir-v with structured control flow, but actually in Wasm it is quite a bit better, because you are allowed to break/continue from an arbitrarily nested block. This allows yo

I hit the same problem when compiling Cpython with the Cheerp[0] compiler in 2019. I was also at first trying to patch the code but this practice is so pervasive in python C extensions that it was unwieldy. My solution was also to write an

I like the idea of PeerTube, but I have a question: How well does the p2p offloading of viral videos work in practice? How is the average user experience? Do you get a lot of buffering pauses, or is it seamless as if it was Youtube? Assumin

I dug a bit on this just now, and apparently you can force firefox to use dbus always by setting the env variable MOZ_DBUS_REMOTE=1 . Finally I can click to links in slack instead of copying them.

oh yes! this is the single most frustrating thing on Wayland for me right now (not a huge deal, but almost anything else just works these days).

But your public transport is not great, really. It is pretty expensive, to the point that renting a car is cheaper than taking the train if you are 2 people. And trains are painfully slow too. Public transport inside cities is better (but s

Is node/v8 compiled to Wasm entirely, or are you using the browser's JS engine with polyfills for node's APIs? Or something in between?

A good trick to convince JS engines that you are dealing with integers is to use the "`|0` operator": let a = 1; let b = 2; let c = a+b|0; // c is guaranteed to be a 32 bit signed integer This not only ensures correct 3

You can, but it is orders of magnitude slower. Try the "primes.js" example in the nodejs repl with CheerpX, then run it on jslinux and see for yourself. On my machine it runs about 600 times slower in jslinux than in CheerpX.

The article says about the Stackifier algorithm: "no link for the latter, it’s only mentioned by this name in LLVM internal discussions". Since the release of this article, I wrote a blog post explaining how Stackifier works, for

There is Cheerpj[0]. You can compile any JAR into js, and there is even a Chrome extension to conveniently run Applets found in the wild[1]. [0] https://www.leaningtech.com/cheerpj/ [1] https://chrome.google

The RFCs for HOTP[0] and TOTP[1] are very readable. I built a small cli utility to manage my TOTP logins easily using them as reference. [0] https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4226 [1] https://tools.ietf.org
