Ok so like what does Palantir actually do? From what I understand Palantir is basically a data consulting company with a suite of data mining/visualization tools at its core. Essentially, it sends an engineer armed with these tools int

No need for a separate protocol here. You can just read an rss feed until you get a hit on your filter and then stop reading it. Same data over the wire, just a different client.

What requirements are being proposed here? It seems like we’ve got a requirement for a separate endpoint, but no explanation as to why it’s necessary (as opposed to just requesting the endpoint(s) you’re interested in). Then we’ve also got

How is this different than just curling the endpoint? It seems like you might be asking the producer to be able to execute any arbitrary calculation across their (codebase?, website? Thing?). The reason it’s never been implemented is becaus

I pretty much optimize for PTO when choosing jobs, so I really never have this dilemma. My current job offers 8 weeks PTO (but I make much less than I would at a FAANG). To me, that’s better than retirement.

Personally if I do anything for 8+ hours a day 5 days a week it starts to feel like a job around 2 or 3 months in no matter how much I love it, and if I do much less than that I start to feel lacking in structure and progress. I’ve gone thr

AI is not "a magical button" though. It's another tool to solve the problem, that allows you to get a bit less into the weeds (sometimes, until it messes up), essentially by giving you a bunch of reasonable default behavior.

I feel like most people who got into programming because they liked it (rather than for money) feel this way. I certainly don’t wanna be solving the same problems over and over again.
