Yep, some pages can't be read for some reason or another. I already added support for PDFs, I guess I'll handle more error cases as they pop up.

Did anyone notice it reporting about itself now? This will definitely go into the archive :)

I added a basic speed setting, have a look! Also looking into the archive idea, which will be a bit more involved, since my current infra is kind of minimalist.

Interesting, I actually did a search before submitting mine, but I narrowed it down to the last year only. Yours being 2y/o didn't show up. You were ahead of your time!

Same boat re: audio speed. I actually speed up the voice in the backend by 1.16x . Above that I was getting too many artifacts in the audio. The nice thing about doing it at that point is that I can handle the music and the voice separately

That's a real useful resource. Thanks! I was looking into using the algolia API to get the top 10 posts of the last day, but those won't be unique over the span of several days.

Thank you! And that's a really good question. Since it's summarizing the articles, I would assume that there shouldn't be any issues regarding copyright. Regarding the comments that it's using, I think HN generally has s

Definitely! I was thinking to just show a list of all the links under the player, would that work for you?

I was actually listening to it while making breakfast as well, so the idea of an extended morning briefing resonates with me. I'll look into it, thanks for the follow-up!

Thanks! An archive shouldn't be too hard to implement. Would a morning briefing include more of a curated selection of news, like the most interesting/most discussed news of the day? Currently I just take the top 5 posts from the

I was thinking the same, would love to hear the author's reasoning for going with gpt-4o. In my experience, anything above gpt-3.5-turbo is overkill for data extraction.

I think that's the wrong link, but I get the idea. Actually it might qualify as art even more, because in terms of functionality it would be borderline useless.

Boldly expanding the definition of "art" ;) Reminds me of the eink calendar concept that has been bouncing around the web for some years [1]. There's also this project [2] based on the same concept. It seems to me though that

With a claim like that in the title, I would at least expect a comparison to other electromechanical games and a discussion on why this would be the most complex one.

Yeah I get that, for me there were enough interesting things to offset the cringy bits. Just off the top of my head, I remember being intrigued by the robots-trying-to-be-human thing, and how consistent they were with the fact that you'

That's really interesting, I remember trying to get my hands on Gujian 2 when it first came out, which was impossible at that time. Glad to see it's now on Steam! I think at first I played Nier Automata mainly for the mechanics. T

Got some examples for good games from China? As a counterexample to the first part, check out Nier Automata. One of the most original and compelling games I've played in recent years.

You can use the translation tool in Chrome to get English translations, works pretty well. For pinyin, there are some browser extensions for Chinese dictionaries, where you can hover over a word and get the pinyin (or bopomofo ;)). I'd

This is a quick POC for getting transcriptions of the Mandarin radio broadcast of RTI. I made this mainly for myself, maybe there are others who find this useful.

Sure, anything in particular? The frontend uses Nuxt.js, which is great because it brings SSR and PWA support out of the box. It also helps you organize your code a little better. For the backend it's Node and MongoDB and for deploymen

I can tell you why: Because it has no affordance :) I just keep it hidden in plain sight until I smooth out some of the quirks of the map integration. Would be great if you could spread the word, thanks!

The locations are also used to show the route on a map. You can actually see it by clicking on a yellow location marker. It's a bit hidden because the UI is still a bit buggy, so until I get it fixed it's more of an easter egg. Th
