Great news then! Per this announcement, Windows ML can enable someone to build a better, local version of Rewind.

That would only be the case if they forked it - but not a hostile takeover of the original repository.

Very unclear if you read the post and understood that the author is actually a full blown OSS contributor and maintainer - and the point of the post is that they built Bundler, which Ruby Central has now “stolen”.

That is a valid POV I hadn’t fully considered. But I would hesitate to blame this on the original OSS author’s license choice - the vendor can always provide source even without the force of GPL. Heck, rather making it GPL means almost no h

I’m acutely aware that any topic related to Google Ads invites the blind fury of HN. I don’t want to excuse their shitty behavior, but I also dislike the illogical and irrational posts and threads that pop up about this topic on a monthly b

Yes, I understand that you/others think this is an already solved problem - my point was that as time passes and the world grows, it no longer is - they can’t exactly solve it satisfactorily for all.

No, I’m definitely not talking about ranking - that’s downstream of my point. I’m talking about the “simple” solution that everyone alludes to but can’t seem to explain how it would feasibly work.

Every time this comes up, I don’t understand what the alternative is supposed to be. X (Midjourney in this case) may/not be trademarked in the user’s country - so what makes X so special that Google/others should rank this one ove

Haven’t checked, but luckily it’s just a PR away from being fixed for everyone using the Oma-distros.

At the very minimum, omarchy and omakub already provide out of the box seamless fixes for all the common issues that are “fixed” but need tedious involved configuration nonetheless.

If one reads the security advisory - the security researcher’s claim is that a particular API endpoint would accept URLs without deduping, so they were able to send 5000 URLs to it - nothing more sophisticated.

> Apparently ChatGPT makes 2000 http requests per web search. Can you source that claim? It sounds absolutely ridiculous and costly/wasteful. It would be nigh impossible to ingest 1000s of webpages into a single chat.

Truly bizarre how this is playing out - was the digital creator carve out requested by the various right wing streamers that are part of Trumps’s core sycophant club? Doesn’t make any sense.

Exactly. Don’t blame exporters; nothing ships without an order. Same with illegal immigration: Trump & others could hire only legal locals at their hotels/resorts/farms - but don’t. So we go in circles about how to “solve” it.
