Thinking about it, we are lucky Debian moved to Gandi instead of StartCom when they ditched the SPI CA.

The studies they mention in this is pretty fun, both the self-censorship and the news feed one.

AFAIK it is standard for all 64-bit instructions that use immediates.

My personal favorite is Server 2003 custom support (I am pretty sure custom support was never intended to make as much revenue as it did): https://www.reddit.com/r/microsoft/comments/6b79sw/custom_su...

IA-64 had plenty of other problems which did not help either. This proposal would make x86 more like a normal "RISC" processor instead without breaking user mode and hopefully not even driver compatibility. Main benefit would be t

I wonder how many use the terminal in the first place for such an ad to be actually profitable anyway.

It would not be the same as IA-64. My idea would be to ditch the segment registers and act if the segment base is always zero except FS and GS for example, with a new way to handle interrupts etc of course. As a side note, I am thinking tha

Also, the NSA is funded by government debt. One of the reasons we got off the gold standard was government spending in the first place.

Fortunately, normally immediate constants are still 32-bit even if operating on 64-bit registers, so the cost is only the REX byte.
