Dean Radin has a fascinating book looking at the evidence for ESP. There is quite a bit since the topic has obvious military applications if it works. There are a number of metaanalyses he looks at which indicate it is not p hacking. The

Lots of ghost stories and religious experiences and accounts of telekinesis and ESP. Are all those true as well?

Look I am not saying they are right. My point is these are not your average stupid uneducated person. The two families in question, the one parent has multiple PhDs from Columbia and Princeton, the other took their undergrad at Caltech.

I personally know very intelligent and highly educated people who went to top universities who are convinced vaccines caused mental retardation in their children. They may be wrong, but I would not call them nutjobs.

I get that it is hard to say how derivative something is. There are certainly cases where this is hard to say. However, there are also cases where it is quite black and white where much effort was expended to come up with a particular des

Exactly. That is why I say such arguments are essentially arguments for communism, and we all know how that turns out.

No, but anyone in the public could potentially become part of such a group. So, what they disallow for what they consider a special group they are also disallowing for themselves.

What is the difference between a psych ward and a jail? No difference in tv shows, except they also drug you, do weird experiments, and you could get killed by fellow inmates without a problem. If getting committed to a psych ward replace

Well, as someone who may create IP, I would like recourse to the legal system in order to enforce ownership of what I create. I imagine there are many people like me.

Wouldn't that argument undermine all property protection? What if anything of ours is uniquely ours vs somewhat derivative? Tangible property is even more derivative, i.e. inheriting a house. Absolutely no creativity going on in tha

Everything intangible would not exist if someone didn't put in the effort to create it. As such they have a right to constrain the use of what they create, just as they have with tangible goods they create.
