Back when subscriptions started to be a thing some people (myself included) were cautiously optimistic. The problem with paid upfront and paid upgrades was that it eventually resulted in bloated programs because the only way to continue hav

Inline styles came and went and were replaced by CSS. (style attribute is still just CSS). font, color, and others are no longer in HTML5 spec. > You can also execute JavaScript on the server to make browsers more secure, but I don'

Yes and no. You can have a document without CSS but you can’t style it. You can have a document without JavaScript but only a static one (still interactive, but only though forms) On the other hand, you can replace XSLT with server side ren

In Safari at least clicking a rss link prompts you to open it in a rss reader, which I think is a superior experience. Reading a rss feed in browser is not without use, but I’d argue that that’s mostly the job of the site itself.

With browser being as complicated as they are, I kind of support this decision. That said, I never used XSLT for anything, and I don’t see how is its support in browsers tied to RSS. (Sure you could render your page from your rss feed but t

When I decided to get back into PC gaming during covid, I built a PC put Windows on it and installed GOG, Steam and Epic to turn it into a glorified console. It has been like that ever since. For anything other than gaming I use a Macbook.

I’ve got a German practice lock and boy was that a hard wake up call. That thing was so hard to pick that I gave up. (The keyhole is really slim) My bad though, LPL did warn about this.

The idea that people would do this has never even crossed my mind. Not disputing that people do this, mind you. Technology is certainly there, but I also think that it’s very prone to taking ideas out of context.

One of my favorite functions in QtCreator is to be able to not only change color but also text attributes. In C++ for example I had it set up so function arguments passed as reference would be in italics. So you know they could be mutated.

With Python I find that distribution is too much of a pain (I don’t mind creating a virtual env for a cli tool but for a GUI forget it). I love that go links everything statically and so far I haven’t had any problems running rust tools.
