You apparently didn't read all of my comment as I mentioned Java's anonymous inner classes being used to fake lambdas near the end. And, the point remains, given any TC language L, all possible language features for all possible l

Actually, given a Turing Machine M which outputs x when given x, then we would have the description of program T0 (for terse language T) equal to the concatenation of the [specification of the] machine M with T0, M T0. Given program J1 (fo

One doesn't have to look far before he finds a fatal flaw in the commentary. Particularly this: "In my mind, a language construct is expressive if it enables you to write (and use) an API that can't be written (and used) wit

Expressiveness is power and it applies to the act of writing code, not reading it. I agree that it is ideal if one's code can be read and comprehended easily by others although that has little to do with expressiveness. http:/&#x

I don't think it is different actually. ' Kolmogorov complexity ' (which is essentially the global minimum 'essential complexity' of a particular algorithm) is specified in terms of length .

You can be sure if you want but unless you back up your claim with some reasoning, others will consider you wrong.

Are you sure about that? Given that any [Turing-complete] language feature can be implemented in any other [Turing-complete] language, the only conceivable difference is in fact length of implementation. In other words, it is possible to

And what percentage of all 'rich people' is that number? I would venture that it is quite high. Certainly a much higher percentage than the number of poor people responsible for these wars (which I think was OP's point).

That's astonishingly naive. Who sets corporate, national and international policies?

And why couldn't they switch to an advertising-based revenue stream (like pretty much everyone else in Web 2.0 and beyond).

In Scala, currying is not all-pervasive. You have to be explicit about it (and it's a definite pain point).

You don't need proliferation of features to achieve expressiveness though (see Scheme or lambda calculus). Most of the cruft in Scala is due to its support of O-O and its attempt to modernize it. Similarly, C++ is a superset of C rathe

I figured as much. I just threw them out there in case anyone could benefit (including you). :-) Also, I completely agree with the rest of your original post (the parts RE: Scheme, Go, & simplicity).

"Haven't worked with neither" is a double negative. Also, 'resembles with' is redundant--'resembles' is sufficient. I have written both Scala and C++ at my day jobs and I would say that Scala certainly do
