Seriously, without China we'd just have two parasitic companies hoarding this tech and deciding whom and how is allowed to use it.

I expect they're going to fight each other to become the vendor of record for the government, and whoever wins will get bailed out. This is one area where they don't have to worry about competition from Chinese models.

It's a fun thing to do. I'm really intrigued by the idea of a harness that can tune itself to a particular project. As I've been hacking on samizdat, I realized that you want to have a set of canned workflows as a starter pac

The obvious reason is that Lisp is perfectly suited for writing self modifying programs in a way pretty much no other language is. And as others pointed out, the evidence that agents work better with other languages is pretty thin. I'v

There's definitely initial hype here, but we kind of have to put things in perspective too. Unitree valuation sits at around 62 billion while OpenAI is at 852 billion and Anthropic at 1.8 trillion. And direct commercial application for

I expect that embodied AI is going to have far more practical applications than LLMs. And given that this is strategic tech, it's obvious that China will pour money into making it happen without worrying about short term profitability.

The whole property collapse narrative was basically projection. People looked at what would happen in a liberal capitalist system they're familiar with and then assumed that the same thing would happen in China. But China doesn't

It's worth noting that China has seen decades of steady development, and has avoided the boom/bust cycles we see happening in the west. While we've lived through dotCom bubble, the 2008 crash, covid, and now the looming AI bu

What I find interesting is the contrast between the West and China here. Most people in the West expect that AI will make their lives worse in some way. Meanwhile, 84% of Chinese are excited about this tech, and expect that it will be used
