Don't feel bad about bringing a story of failure. You're keeping it real and there's nothing more valuable than a dose of reality sometimes.

Hang in there man. Care to share more about what kind of company? How big of a gamble was it?

You definitely can't undo sending an email notification so additional emails will have to be sent when an action is undone, which in the end will create more problems, annoy or confuse users.

I'm guessing some of that could be due to taking the wrong path initially then leaving things the way they are. Platforms like WPF/Silverlight fixed these headaches years ago right from their conception.

Border box is also a godsend when dealing with nicely laid out form inputs because unlike elements like divs you can't get away with nesting child elements to get the desired effect, and you typically have borders on those fields. Need

I took the survey, which got me thinking about my staging environments then I concluded that it wasn't that big of a pain. The main thing that came to mind was db schema synchronization.

I actually use squirrel mail but its interface is still stuck in 1999. Roundcube is pretty good but I didn't like it very much the last time I installed it.

This is pretty neat. Not sure if these are features available in the pro version but two things I think it's missing are (or that I didn't see in the demo): - multiple identities, so that when sending email you can pick the from e

Yep very true. Depending on what you are working on alternative approach is to strip out the namespaces before querying anything. Obviously, this can get you in trouble, and while namespaces are there for a reason, they can be a PITA when w

The funny thing is I always thought this site was about Rap lyrics. From this video I learned that it's now more than that, which I can see value in. Everything makes more sense now. Time for a re-branding though.

Thanks, this is a good article. I too like having a site that only focuses on legal. Legal is big enough and there isn't much of an overlap like you have with verticals like computer tech, electronics tech, car repair. Best of luck.

Very early in the article the author contrasted this service with LegalZoom, but the first thing that came to mind was something like Pearl.com. It's good when there's a service like this that's focusing on only one thing so

My experience with nvidia is that it's just as easy as Windows these days. There's even a gui app that was probably inspired by Windows' monitor config.

Agreed. pacman -Syu is a godsend. Of course that's just the face of a great package manager and packaging. In many ways on Arch you could make the argument that it just works.

Entitlement and true idiocy. It was so entertaining to read because the author is moaning and bitching about using an experimental feature. Great candidate for being an IE6 advocate.

This offers some real perspective, but it's still hard to tell how much confidence, or the lack of, factored into everything. If you don't appear to be confident about something it can be a turn off. I'm mention that not to d

Hopefully Learn to Code does help to show that it is hard to get right and that if you think you can pull off the same thing by just taking some 8 week class your project will probably suffer the same fate.

It was a flag that was re-purposed. If the code is never deleted and the flag's use is discontinued then the code never runs. However, it seems that the flag was reused years later causing the old code to be inadvertently reactivated.
