With arrays you would have to do: $o = (object)[ 'foo' => 'bar' ]; Personally I think there should be a way to create objects right away instead of having to cast an array. Maybe there is a good reason all together

Good stuff nikita, keep up the great work. I also vote for getting object literals added (it will be a great addition to the array literals).

It is very stable. I believe it is from having the custom kernel (it seems that whoever puts together image knows how to keep the arch guest and whatever host happy). What you will see with most vps providers with arch is that you purchase

Are you kidding? I often evaluate offerings from lowendbox and it still surprises me that for many of them images for some of the distros don't even work (solusvm seems to be crappy too). Linode is probably the only company outside of Racks

+1. I think they have made a fortune from selling Swiss Army Knifes that were attached to keys--it's very easy to forget removing those before heading through security. Anyway I've always thought that was much easier to make a quick weapon

I like the trend too, particularly in the sense that everyone should learn about programming in the same way that everyone should learn math and how to read/write. Not everyone goes on to become an author and I won't expect everyone to go o

I don't think it's so much on the bleeding edge in Arch as most people think and packages are usually upgraded in such a way so that dependencies don't cause problems in other packages (at least from my experience). The key has always been

Off-topic comment but it seems like some kind of trend to intentionally use double negatives in comments. I understand that sometimes using the double negative could be an important distinction, e.g. "not uncommon" does not necessarily mean

I'd say get a cheap VPS from a service like linode or digital ocean (there are many others listed on lowendbox.com but I would recommend sticking with the well-known/bigger providers) then take it from there. Most major distributions have t

Generally you don't want to host email or DNS yourself but I think if done right and you keep them on their own servers it can be great in the long run.

Because in this case it is open? I'm not for having a single implementation but I wouldn't complain if every single browser used the same engine. It still won't be ideal but this by default removes any incompatibilities (assuming the same b

I haven't had too much experience with using the support at Digital Ocean since they're pretty stable but I don't think it is as fast as Linode. I've had the same experience with Linode too--everything gets responded to in under 5 minutes.

I've been evaluating them for the past 6 months or so and it's definitely one of the more stable cheap VPS providers out there. I believe they added a DNS manager a few months ago but I haven't used it as yet.

I think this goes for the latest and most hyped where the communities could be small. A good middle ground would be well-established projects with a relatively big community and preferably strong industry ties. Usually projects over a certa

Broken behavior related to this happens quite often actually. I've had sites that were bitten by this or some variant. If you follow the Facebook bug tracker it comes up every now and then (it might be localized to a degree in some cases).

I completed college with a good GPA, honors and achievements to consider it successful and I still think it was the biggest mistake I made in my life. At the end of the day the debt (under 80K) added too much unnecessary stress. I would say

If you have the addresses then you could use a geocoding service to get the lat/longs. For e.g. Google Maps' API has this functionality.

I cannot seem to find a major PHP framework that leaves it in so I will go ahead and officially call leaving off the closing tag a best practice by reason of: common sense, prevention is better than cure, type less--not more, etc. Let's als

It has explicit variable declaration. You can always do: varname as Type = expression You often won't see this for the sake of succinctness. I might have misunderstood what you were saying but thought I'd mention that.
