Competition didn't do it. For years. Regulation did, and in something like 2 months. The coolest part? All those threats about "companies will leave a highly regulated market" never materialized.

On Firefox, you could go to the Library and right click the Bookmarks folder, choose "Open all in tabs". It'll take a moment but all your icons should be fetched afterwards.

Seems to be the same change. "This is an industry-wide change for browsers and is not something Mozilla is undertaking alone. Google has been rolling this change out to Chrome users since February 2020, with SameSite=Lax being the defa

But why would they become the Apple of electric cars? Why do you think they have better chances than anyone else? The market, to me, seems to show that most people still buy non-electric cars. Once that flips, any other much bigger car manu

Was very skeptical - every time I try some new search engine it just gives really bad results. Tried some quite esoteric things and was very surprised - also for non-English content. Trying this as my default search now! Congrats. Edit: sug

"Torrenting has an incentivization problem. There is sometimes a real lack of incentive to seed a file, especially for obscure files where you may only find a single digit number of people that have it. Adding monetary incentives to th

Thank you very much for this detailed explanation. What societies do you have in mind that had a legal system but no formal policing force? Would be interesting to learn more about it. I remember the concept of police appears even in the bi

I'm sorry if it's a stupid question, but I'm not American and not a native English speaker. What do you mean when you say "Abolish the police"? You think there shouldn't be police at all? Or that it needs a ref

Yeah, but it never worked for me. For some reason it lists only a fraction of my open tabs. Also my extension allows me to jump faster between tabs using their tab number, and easily close tabs by prepending a zero to their number.

Shamesless plug: I've built a tiny WebExtension for Firefox that I believe is the fastest way to jump between tabs ever, with the keyboard. It's for those of us who have more than 15 tabs open. You basically click a one key, and t

Thank you for your response. It's so unfortunate to think that 20 years later, instead of having the situation improved, a story like "I wanted to go to TLV but there was no flight so I flew to GZA instead" sounds completely

It's unclear to me what are you trying to suggest. The parent comment never said Gaza was the densest place, or even that density == hell. Are you saying that Gaza is a sparsely populated paradise? Yeah, some people take vacations. It&

Fascinating story. Do you care giving more background? What year was this? and what brought you to this rare flight in first place? were you part of some delegation? The sad truth is that you were probably right regarding the kids.

I don't think that's what the parent comment is suggesting. Instead they're saying that it might not be greed in the sense of "wanting to make an extra 5% no matter what" but a lose-the-whole-business question. That
