I'm sorry, but I would never give money to an open-source project through a VC-backed company that takes a 10% commission. I could maybe live with it if it was 0.5%, but heck I'll just find the maintainer and wire them the money s

The only thing?.. - it's super easy to use the output of one program as the input of another, and to integrate it in bigger scripts. - it's much more discoverable. when Mac users tell me they discovered tricks like holding right c

I actually have a feeling not that many people around the world will be confused between this and an IPv6 based low-power mesh networking protocol for IoT devices.

This is a very beautiful study case for open source projects - someone needed a client for the niche OS (sorry Ubuntu Touch), so they just wrote it. It seems like they've done so without much prior experience. As for Delta Chat - I

How is this relevant? Why does one need to live in Iceland (I have) to remind us that 80k USD a year is quite good in Europe, and that inflation isn't much worse than anywhere else?

Please consider replacing the 8mb gif animation with a normal video file. It will both load faster and allow users to pause, start from the beginning etc.

I absolutely love this! Never understood how we ended up trusting our messengers to not read our messages, instead of just handing them encrypted messages. This makes so much more sense. Now I just need to convince a couple of friends... Th

This is wonderful. I would love to replace my stupid Google Home Minis with this if I can actually get the hardware for $50. The Mycroft device is like $400 so I didn't even consider it, and I never understood why it had to be so expen

I especially liked the fact that you can use the size of the container element to calculate the size of the children. This is super useful when you want to make sure your text takes the full width of the container regardless of the screen.

Yes, but AFAIK by default (Android) it will use the same random MAC address for each network. I think it is randomly generated based on the SSID, unless you tick the aforementioned option.

I don't know how it works on iPhone, but on Android you can easily get a new mac address and get additional 20 minutes. Settings > Developer Options > Wi-Fi non-persistent MAC randomization. Then just forget the network and recon

IANAL myself and I'm not sure either how it works, but technically Zaraz doesn't save your data at all, and you can set your website to only be handled by EU servers. We wrote about it here: https://blog.cloudflare.com&

Cloudflare Zaraz does much of that actually. First, you can set some tools to not require consent - it's not like "Reject all" === "No javascript". It's up to the website owner to classify the different scripts
