It would be more akin to Apple only letting you use the fuel that they sell for the cars they sell, just like Tesla did with their proprietary charging connector (before being forced, at least in the EU, to use a standard connector).

Out of curiosity, internally does a language like J `map` over arrays even though the array is a primitive? Meaning, is `map` essentially a “primitive function”?

It's a false dichotomy; the correct comparison is: If a developer doesn't like Apple's terms, there are other phone platforms.

To add to this, as someone who has used the app before I'd be genuinely surprised if the experience they are given was in fact substantially different enough to warrant some people AU$7 while charging others over AU$30 (!!). The paid v

On call doesn’t mean always available for anything, though. It should mean if something truly breaks you’re there to help fix it. If the former is the case, I’d definitely set some boundaries to reduce that over time.

This argument only works if there is sufficient competition. I would say that Apple has enough competition to agree with the argument that "you don't have to buy an iPhone".

I would argue that using the right words is important here. “On call” typically refers to a specific thing, where if something breaks that person on call is, well, called (or paged, etc.) to fix it when it happens, even at 2am. This is how
