This is actually very standard syntax for array languages. Precedence rules may be uncommon, but extremely simple: right to left, that's all; and finding the meaning of each symbol just requires checking in a table. In your c-style exa

I get review requests from journals and it is my personal decision to accept them. My employer (university) does not even know if I review papers or not. I do not have any obligation or get any kind of compensation for doing them. This is n

Your text was fine! I understood what you mean. I have seen the specific box about grammar in some journals. But my field is not computer science or physics, so my experience may be quite different from most people here.

It is not unusual (at least on some fields) seeing specific questions about grammar. It must be checked and maybe fixed, and in some extreme cases it can even imply rejection independently of content, but in most cases a revision is enough.

What I would like to have (and looks quite similar to what you are describing) is some APL interpreter (or J or K...) with an RPN input method. The idea comes from HP calculators, where you use RPN to "build" algebraic expressions

May I ask where are you? I have been in many European universities and I always got free coffee (not food, but neither in private companies).

You are smart enough. These articles (both this one and the longer "A history of APL in 50 functions") get posted here from time to time. They are showing off and include some examples of very clever code (which made perfect sense

They may be depressing and frustrating, but I think they are necessary. They answer a "what-if" that most people learning Lisp will ask themselves at some point. Eg: I was never into the Lisp usage of parents until I saw some of t

If you have made the switch from Windows to Linux, you probably have got that feeling of satisfaction, of things working as expected. Maybe getting everything working was harder, but it felt right. That is the feeling you get when you switc

Some HP calculators do (at least above the 49G, I am not sure about the 48). The HP prime is based on Giac/Xcas.

I have done something similar using a ramfs for the work directories. That way when you are finished you simply save what you want and delete it. Building is much faster than to disk. If your data does not fit in RAM, just use an image file

J and K generally use symbols instead of words, but what you said still applies. I have seen very similar solutions that allow to represent J with APL symbols, and it surely looks much better. But these solutions are far from optimal. The c

A special keyboard can hardly compete with the convenience of any standard keyboard. My issue is not to write APL in a personal basis; there are many tools for that. My problem is that it is not the standard. J and K solved that using ASCII

I think it would indeed be less practical, but also more honest. The sun rises earlier during the summer, and we actually start doing things earlier. The DST system is just hiding this so we do not need to change any schedules, at the expen
