"I don't play games, I think some people do." Multi-billion dollar industry raking in higher profits than Hollywood and that at this point is an unregulated online casino for teens. Yeah, some people do...

Is this part of a new Embrace, Extend, Extinguish campaign? Legit question, at this point I trust the Linux Foundation as much as the corps behind it, but I'd appreciate being contradicted.

Well, it is like 2003 as far as the real-time performance of the graphics go. Or maybe more like 1993.

These are criminals and, judging by their modus operandi, quite the imbecile kind. The SEC is not bullying anyone here.

The problem, the SEC dryly notes, is that the alleged criminals (but proven imbeciles) had a tendency to discuss “their scheme over Discord voice chats that they believed were private, but were being recorded.” Like discussing a bank robber

"Treated equally", especially when it comes to things like wage parity, is still a bit of a far cry in the West. Not that that subtracts from your point, but just pointing out. Treated 'better', for sure.

I've given up on Activision/Blizzard. The company's creative talent is held hostage by a combination of former cow milkers who have discovered the largely unregulated business of online teen casinos together with a legion of

The header image there with the tall rack of cars certainly makes "Carvana crashes hard" and "has come crashing down" more vigorous and vicious. Props to the author.

Same. I'm no doctor here but setting screen brightness to ambient level (typically low at 20-30%) with proper contrast can't be underestimated. And Flux or "night light" 24/7 to cut the blue.

Simon my boy. The "View from 100,000 feet" slide does highlight the kind of experience SPJ would have in identifying where Haskell lacks a bit in pragmatism as a basis for a new, but not super different language. Hopefully the too

Ads are an enabler of bad products. If things required a subscription, half the shit on the Internet would be gone and for good reason. Also, often you get ads anyway regardless of the subscription. This is a false dichotomy.

I've found make -j doesn't actually scale very well when you have a ridiculous number of cores and less than, e.g., 2 GB RAM/core.

Where is this Intel/AMD Blender benchmark? DX11 (and OpenGL) need to do a bunch of resource tracking, barrier injection and ad-hoc re-programming of the pipeline. That stuff takes effort to do efficiently. I don't think the perf i
