I imagine that if you have to work more than a sustainable pace to achieve a role, that it can be difficult to return to a sustainable pace and feel that you are "giving" the same. So, there is this self-imposed pressure to conti

Do you like the dependency injection? In Flask applications (and I suppose, Quart) you can use the `current_app` object to hold onto a service container that itself can register/retrieve services. It's very manual, and is annoying

It's wrong enough where writing raw mermaid is still faster at this time, IME.

A natural language mermaid diagram builder would be really neat. Something to go think about...

But money is portable, and Local market means a different thing than it did pre-pandemic. The argument that local cost of living is the only factor falls apart when people are moving from high CoL markets to low CoL markets with their advan

There used to be tours of the Detroit Salt Mines, and indeed the Detroit Salt Company is still alive today. Near the "Uniroyal Giant Tire" [1] off of I-94 is a small tunnel that goes under the freeway. Not the same as these, but,

I agree, especially when considering that a model is also not reality. However, what folks often do is find a Linear Solution quickly, then optimize on the Integer Solution, which gives you a gap that you can use to choose termination.

My take: They're too expensive at volume (and they have competitors, just not famous ones) and not specialized enough / not best in class compared to tools like Klaviyo.

You can follow hashtags on the Fedi, and some accounts are "groups". Feels like mailing lists.

Yeah, automotive and insurance both are regular layoff industries. This is also a relatively small layoff, not like the huge "interest rates so the sky is falling" stuff we saw previously.

Pretty sweet. What happens when it falls? A question for anyone: how would a device like this best guarantee that it can broadcast its data? What would it use in practice?

You are misinformed. There's a lot more to furries than that. If you want to learn more, Mastodon has some good SFW instances that are very tech focused.

The author is a furry. Being a furry is pretty common and I bet even more people would be willing to engage with it if it weren't for comments like this.

Not OP, but it's lonely and it never ends. I live in a college town with a short commute and a neat downtown - a place I wanted to be. But it's Michigan and salaries here are really low. Hard to work for a local company.

While reading this, noticed how Shipwreckworld.com has plenty of content. I'm not sure if NPR or The Guardian added a ton of value. However, I am sure they spend more effort on capturing impressions. In this context, I sympathize even

Degrade is an interesting word. I am comfortable changing for others to make them comfortable because the behavior is not about me and I simply know myself a enough to not mind.

Many lakes are regularly closed for bacteria, definitely. Lake Huron, Lake Superior, and Lake Michigan far away from Chicago don't have this issue, but of course they are exceptional in volume.

Cool article. > This isn't weird, lots of languages have multiple dispatch. What is weird is that you can also dispatch based on a runtime predicate of the value. Is it wrong to think of the predicate itself as a type here?

Everything eats Arborvitae, especially deer. It is often planted for its speed of growth. I would not describe this as 'strange ways'. It's herbivores eating tasty plants.

Have you read about hedge ecosystems? Particularly in England where forest cover is low, hedges are habitat. I think a lot of exurbs in the US could learn from that. On a side note, I share your philosophy. This year we have had deer and ev
