I don't think it would really be that hard to solve this from an engineering perspective (see for instance how the Brooklyn bridge was built) its just that anyone with enough money and sense to solve the problem properly is probably to

A lot of places around where I'm at (NYC) get their pies/pastries from a neighborhood bakery. It doesn't seem to me that there is much of a difference between buying a pie from the bakery or buying a slice of it from the rest

If this is real it has to be Times Square/Theater District IMO so that is unlikely to be a factor.

The only new fact I see here is that link between L3 and Verizon is not symmetric. That's not surprising really, but it means that there is already traffic asymmetry baked into whatever peering agreement they have today.

The programmers have never been willing to treat OTT providers as legitimate MVPDs, if they were we would have had "internet cable" years ago. The real risk to Aereo here is that this opens up competition and will likely trigger

Its more than that. IE9 is the latest version that can be installed on XP and is not supported on later versions of Windows. And while its fine to tell users to get a better browser for hobby or internal sites having to deal with user stil

StackExchange is not a great example since it was started by Joel Spolsky and Jeff Atwood who already had a significant platform where they were engaging with their target market without user generated content.

JSON vs. XML is largely irrelevant IMO. What is needed is something with as little extra crap as possible so that it is possible for a developer and/or diff tool figure out what is going on with the file.

.NET has always had a relatively easy asynchronous model. The async/await keywords made it a whole lot easier but BeginXXX/EndXXX were not that bad, although if you are truly IO bound burning a few extra CPU cycles is not that imp

The question is more inspired by someone I know who lives in Manhattan who has a psycho ex. This data would answer the question (if he were tech savvy enough to mine it) "Where does her new boyfriend live?" which is rather fright

Am I the only one that sees some significant privacy issues with exact pickup/drop off times and location being released? It seems like singling out a single passenger's data (e.g. to/from home) would not be that difficult.

On my machine I have, well had, one. What is going on here? Is adding a trusted CA cert (with the key) really a good idea?

Most of the top stories here end up on another site I visit, but here we have thoughtful discussions on the topic even if its controversial where over there it devolves into religious wars, stupid jokes, and trolling within about 5 minutes.

WiFi attacks are not necessarily passive, ARP poisoning can redirect a victim's traffic to your machine at which point you can MITM to your hearts content. If you have trained your users to ignore the inevitable security warning (Gran

One of the major advantages of working through an agency is that they have processes in place to asses credit risk and handle collections. This isn't limited to startups though. I've seen a medium sized company stonewall on paymen
