I planned to add similar list to just released HNResources ( http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1840164 ) Now I'll just add links to offers and offerless lists. One issue I didn't know how to fix is that most offers is limited in time and

Hi hackernewsers! HNResources.com is my approach to create directory of content and applications for HN. Site is hosted by GitHub and uses Jekyll generator, Compass stylesheet framework and Discuss commenting system. If you think I miss som

I very impressed with level of design work of Rails Rumble winners. Are any blog posts from contestants about design process, tools, resources they used (stock images, templates) and so on?

It would be nice to see few bugs and unit tests. It looks nice in blog post but I'm not sure that this approach could be used in real life.

Interesting article, thank you! One small note according SVG: Android still lacks svg support( http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=1376 ) so you need to have workarounds.

interpreter startup with tiny script is ok but loading unit tests by rake command is slow.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AES_instruction_set it seems Intel also has similar instruction set. Could be useful if you need a lot of encryption (truecrypt partition encryption etc.)

ruby startup speed is most annoying on windows. jruby is not a fix for this issue by design.

There are number of json, yaml libraries for c. SQLite is portable for sure, but json, yaml parsers are usually consist of few files without any dependencies.

I've not found answer to question why mongrel2 doesn't use ini files.. It's not so hard to generate sqlite file but it is even easier to generate ini, yaml, json or xml if you don't like particular ini format. And you can manage these files

Good point and I don't completely disagree with you, but title of article is "Which country has the best brains?" but not "Which country had the best brains?" or "Where were the best brains born"

Thank you for RapidXml information. From RepidXml site: It is an in-situ parser written in modern C++, with parsing speed approaching that of strlen function executed on the same data. bold statement :)

As far as I remember expat is event based parser (it emits events when next attribute, tag etc ready) but it seems that this parser creates some sort of DOM. DOM based parsers usually much slower.

PugXML ( http://www.codeproject.com/KB/cpp/pugxml.aspx ) uses similar approach but very portable.

I'm little confused: Yehuda Katz who is a member of jQuery team announced Handlebars.js (templating engine with similar syntax) less then month ago... Would someone clarify differences between these libraries?

This is bad idea from YC point of view. It's OK to invest to startup that most likely fails but in case of success pays out other failures. Redesign doesn't have such upside. Why pay someone 20K for redesign if you can pay much less on 99de

I'm not comparing them directly I'm comparing increase in resolution for camera phones and monitors. Resolution for mainstream camera phone changed from 0.3MP to 5 MP (same Bayer-interpolated megapixels, technology is the same) but I still

What annoys me a lot is increase in megapixels in camera phones and stagnation in tesktop\notebook screen resolution. I don't need multimegapixel camera in phone. To share photo with friends on facebook or twitter 0.3MP is more then enough

Server most likely needs to be backuped anyway. Backups not so important for git as for svn because you are cloning repository with history etc.
