Has Scheiner written anything on this report? I will say this; the Podesta emails revealed a lot about the internal politics of the DNC. Why are we not treating this type of leak with the same level of respect as the Ellsberg leaks? Or for

I hadn't ever thought of it that way. I guess it's a false dichotomy. I've been reading up on deep belief networks and Restricted Boltzmann machines. Using these tools definitely reflects a deterministic logical process, ther

I'd amend the title to read "writing maintainable software is hard." I currently work on a codebase, primarily written in C++ targeting embedded. There's an overwhelming amount of technical debt. There are literally co

I'm not sure how valid this premise of this article is. I would imagine that most startup founders probably spend maybe 10-15% of their day worrying about HN/Product Hunt comments. I forget who said it (maybe pg?), but HN isn'

Really fascinating stuff. I guess an AGI has to skirt the boundary between the purely rational (i.e. evaluating statements of propositional logic), and irrational (i.e. intuition).

Political against the incoming President-Elect. It's all the same, however. Multiple layers of intrigues between actors in the deep state. The common man suffers of course, because he no longer has any hope for a better life. Soon he w

Let me clarify what I meant. I could be misreading materialism, but the way I understand it is that the universe is essentially a runtime with statically-compiled, singleton objects. The behavior for said objects is determined at runtime.

I think he's complaining about the suspicious timing of the sanctions. In which case it would be 100% political.

Sponsored content is OK if I'm told in advance that it is. It's extremely deceitful and disingenuous to suggest that ad blocking justifies these sorts of shady journalistic practices.

Not really news IMO. It's quite obvious that most world class athletes use some form of chemical enhancement. The substances available today for doping are minor buffs, though. Mildronate[1] increases cardiac efficiency/ throughpu

I don't think he's suggesting to revise the protocols of the Internet. He's merely asking for a method to delete his online footprints, in which case there are many services to accomplish this task.

It could very well be an honest mistake. Maybe whomever named it was trying to find the network on their Note 7. Suggesting that someone go to jail over "SSID naming convention contains Note 7" is absurd.

Why would you care if your projects are upvoted? When I build side projects, I just care about learning a new language, framework, library etc...I couldn't care less if it got me upvotes on here or anywhere for that matter.

I gather you're interested in web development. The best advice I'd give is to pick up a good JS book and build several projects to get a feel for the language.
