Because life is random and stochastic. The sooner you realize that your very existence was simply a roll of the dice, the more liberated you will become.

True, we have been refining techniques for incremental improvement. But what of disruptive technology? Can something that is chaotic and non-deterministic have a deterministic set of steps to achieve? Is it reproducible, ceteris paribus? Th

Upvoted you because it's a very good analogy. The Washington Consensus and neoliberal trade theory have wrecked developing economies by at least 10-20 years. It's no surprise that the developing economies doing well right now accepted littl

Very interesting. We once had a similar discussion in an aesthetics class I once took. Is viewing something digitally the same as experiencing it?

Another example of acquisition frenzy by Marissa Mayer...already priced in, especially in this market of asset inflation.

Be extremely careful with this type of correlation. I had a colleague that thought whatever Twitter sentiment was, would reflect the market at a given point in time. However, this is a fallacy, as any "trend" in the market is already priced

I think it ultimately comes down to "choose the right tool for the job". TDD is just one tool that you have in your toolbox to accomplish whatever project you are working on. That doesn't mean that TDD is appropriate for every project.

Having installed NixOS over a year ago, I was really impressed with the package manager. It's wonderful to be able to have multiple versions of GCC, haskell, etc side by side, so you can debug some of the reasons why your program works in o

I can understand this guy's frustration. While I've never used Dwolla before, all the negative reviews of it make sure that I will never use it. Hopefully Ripple and OpenCoin take off, in the meantime it's probably better to use traditional

Sad day to see that Linode is not immune to data breaches. That being said, I don't necessarily support the witch hunt that seems to have taken place on its reputation.

Actually, the caste system isn't that much of a problem anymore. Because of various affirmative action programs, many former Dalits have risen to high governmental posts and industry titans.
