It’s fun to get swept away in the worldview of AI hyperenthoudiasts in the same way it’s fun to get sucked into the world of Percy Jackson when reading the books. It is loosely based on reality and not in line with reality.

in my understanding the data centers are mostly for scaling so that many people can use an LLM service at a time and training so that training a new LLM’s weights won’t take months to years because of GPU constraints. Its already possible t

“I created a custom GPT, then trained it on all the Swift, Swift UI, and Apple developer documentation” I assume OP means he uploaded the documentation pdfs but its unclear to me, would be interesting to hear what this means.

Yikes, as expected people have started to take google AI summary as fact without doing any more research. We all knew this would happen but I imagine all hoped anyone finding something shocking there would look further into it. Of course wi

… yeah LLMs and their “minds” (for the uninformed LLMs are massive weight models that transform text based on math, they don’t have consciousness)

… who cares? 1. the companies don’t get any cheaper compute because a user is from a low-income country. 2. this is an AI subscription, it’s purely a luxury product. We do not need this to survive. If you can’t afford it, don’t buy it.

Also I don’t think it’s fair to compare using LLMs to do your work for you (AKA burdening your coworkers with part of your workload because they will have to point out your garbage) is the same as “Counterfeits to human connection“. At work
