For sure; it's always sad when these things happen because this community especially knows how hard all these people have worked whether their ideas ultimately panned out in the end or not. A complete 180 from Techcrunch comments where assh

As a non-student (with a job) that works fairly often at coffee houses, I try to not always buy the cheapest drink, put a little extra money in the tip jar, etc. understanding that sitting there for 4 hours working and spending $3 is not op

I agree, looking at the thread it's simply a ton of noise. Given so many comment systems have voting mechanisms associated with each comment, I wonder if it could instead be pulling comments that are already deemed "worthy" by the respectiv

Totally agree - the lack of focus is what I think is killing them. It's like a giant insecurity complex that they have to be in every damn market. Taking a page from Apple in the days where Steve would draw a quadrant in his presentations a

Yeah watch out if your company doesn't have office space and you're working from home. There is this assumption that you just aren't doing anything all day so can run errands and do all sorts of crap for your friends and wife - in other wor

I guess that wasn't really my experience. It took me about 5 minutes to set up an event so as an administrator of an event, it was extremely easy and the UI was fine. What they kind of sucked at is the options to display an event. Templates

Nice job on putting this together. I recently used http://eventbrite.com to plan an event. Seems to be quite similar to what you've put together and has a pretty nice UI (a big improvement over evite anyway) - they also have the ability t

Looking at the UI screenshots and hearing this person's experience, I imagine this will be used for awhile only by the elite digerati until they really streamline the interface and come up with a better metaphor of what this is. Also, until

I don't see that anyone has mentioned Apple in any of this. They certainly aren't just going to roll over and let Google take this entire space. They will launch a netbook at some point with the iPhone OS, some storage, the app store to get

Moving to Silicon Valley would be good times but unless you get a job you'll quickly eat through your 100k on living expenses OR you'll be living 40 miles away from your job and enduring a hellish commute on a regular basis. My suggestion w

I would have agreed with you a couple months ago, but a $99 iPhone 3G KILLS other $99 offerings of every other manufacturer. Now if Apple sticks with AT&T in the U.S. that's a serious handicap, but if they begin working with other netwo

Has anyone found a good book or site that has a definitive diet for a non-overweight, non-diabetic person who just wants to make sure they're eating healthy? Every book I've found seems to address some sort of problem vs. talking about bein

Regardless of whether you believe global warming is real or bullshit, isn't there a geo-political argument to be made that we should simply be using less oil and trying to become more efficient so we don't continue to prop up monarchies and

I think it's also interesting to hear the hacker perspective on certain news items. Even though people can be pretty critical of technology, etc. there is a certain sensitivity here that is interesting to read when something totally non-tec

Which is cool, but again when you decide to leave for vacation for a week and take your laptop with you to look up dinner options where you're going and don't leave it running all day in your hotel room - no one can read your blog! Am I mis
