It's a start, but one of the huge advantages of Emacs is the fact that a very large chunk of the system is written in Emacs lisp.

You can install Firefox 26 from the ReactOS Applications Manager. It crashed on first startup but has worked since then for me.

I just downloaded and installed in a virtualbox VM. It feels ridiculously snappy compared to windows. Runs Firefox with the odd crash. Impressive to see how far it has come but there is still some way to go.

Does Essex count as Southeast England? Because the LTS (C2C) line is overhead-electrified. So is HS1.

The Kinesis Advantage comes with Cherry MX browns or reds. The function keys are a bit dodgy though.

I thought that too, but then I found the ZTE Tania, for £69.99, same seller as the Open. It's a Windows Phone, but it's got a faster CPU, 800 x 480 screen, 217ppi (vs. 480 x 320 on the Open), bigger battery, more flash. No micro-S

Dave Cutler was very fond of MIPS and worked on that port, but I think it was done concurrently with the x86 version.

Also see PyXLL http://pyxll.com , which has been around for a while and is more comprehensive. It lets you write Excel addins in Python in a very straightforward way. Python functions can implement functions, menu items, macros. Supports a

Interesting, I will take a look, thanks. The trouble with digital photography apps is the lock-in - I've got tens of thousands of photos processed with LR, so I'm basically stuck with it. Glad that I didn't go with Aperture - at least I hav

I started out with BBC BASIC on my Dad's model B when I was 7 or 8. I remember reading a book called "Structured Programming" or suchlike, and hardly used a GOTO again - BBC BASIC was reasonably advanced for its time in having DEF PROC and

I've tried PowerShell a few times. The thing that puts me off every time is not being able to bind keys. I find it so painful not being able to use emacs shortcuts at the prompt.

Perhaps in this case - but how about a case where you partially iterate over the file, but then the file object goes out of scope? CPython would close (and free) that immediately, but other implementations probably wouldn't.
