Does incognito mode work? Not saying there shouldn't be a tag, but that way you know immediately how to access the article without having to rely on someone copying the contents into hn comments.

Slightly off topic, but have you seen the movie The Diving Bell and the Butterfly? It's about a man with locked-in syndrome. Only his left eye isn't paralysed and he writes a book by blinking the alphabet one letter at a time... I

What does the acronym 'PL' stand for in the sentence: "...partitioned software into boxes: OS, PL, DB, UI, networking..."? OS = Operating Sytem, DB = DataBase, UI = User Interface, PL = I can't work it out but I

Even when everyone's compatible, will you be able to charge on another company's charger? Or will it be like the ATM issues of the past? "You can only withdraw money from your own bank's ATMs"...

At first I assumed Google's reduction was so high because they'd scraped the site on a day when the logo was a doodle. But I just manually checked Google's main logo and was surprised to see a 40% lossless reduction. I would

Do you have a screenshot you could share that shows this in action? I'm interested to see exactly how this works.

The players bar graph also threw me. The y-axis increments aren't equal. I realise it's to fit the highest figure in but it doesn't allow for a fair comparison. Possibly better to put an artificial ceiling on it and retain eq

Great list. Can you elaborate on "Drop-down for expiration is a disaster and a huge regression from the status quo."? Are you saying the norm is to have it typed?

I don't use Stripe or Rails but "Mastering Modern Payments" is something I'm very interested in. "Processing Payments with Background Workers" particularly rang home with me. We use PHP with Sagepay/Paypal

Do you remember any information about the service? Was it just a local laundromat/dry cleaner that did it? I'm looking for something just like that in London.

Basecamp, by 37signals, is a great example of this in practice. They stripped back features so they could focus on the core. In the end they were left with a great (IMO) project management SaaS. No, it doesn't do everything, but what it doe

Scrolling up and down the page feels a little laggy too (Chrome 24, Win7). Is that a drawback of how the 'responsiveness' is coded?

Well, someone does have to wade through all the videos to hopefully find the good ones and write a synopsis for each. That kind of filtering can be valuable.

While visually I really like the design, in terms of usability I'm not entirely sold on it. Book covers can be hard to read (for both the title and the author) and there can be many different cover designs which people may not recognise. I

Bittorrent integration with Steam would be a godsend on release days. Obviously they would need to consider those users whose uploads count towards their limit, but still.

Obviously not. I believe Twitter is the only platform of the 3 that doesn't have a built in option to do this. It seems a bit like reinventing the wheel to me but perhaps that's because I can't see myself using it. I guess the USP is really

After looking around I used the Bronze package from Companies Made Simple. It ended up being slightly cheaper then using Companies House direct (my understanding of which is that Companies House only charges formation agents £14 per company
