Same here. Similarly, I stay away from macros. I think they have a detrimental effect on Rust’s development as well, where sometimes proposals of semantic features are rejected, because something can be done with macros on the syntax level.

I use ACDSee for RAW development and photo collection management. It uses XMP sidecar files, but I don’t know if it’s compatible with Photoshop. I suspect not (and I don’t care, I stay away from Adobe). I also accept that someday ACDSee may

“Social species” is a generalisation. As such, it’s not a good argument against a more particular statement. (Different species aren’t born with an axiom of solitary/social which would then produce more particular consequences, but par

Note to the author: I'm not sure if that's intentional, but if it isn't: the "cursor: default" rule in CSS for the html element creates a weird effect where hovering over text doesn't change the cursor's s

Those are not the only options. Old-style procedural structural programming while avoiding unnecessary side effects, globals etc is just fine.

It surprised me how the justice.gov version was printed, scanned and OCR-ed with junk text in place of text to copy.

I’ve never had weekly 1:1s. That’s the first time I’m hearing about this idea. Sounds dreadful. In general, throughout my career my mental health and by consequence productivity were inversely correlated with the frequency of meetings. I pe

Not really. All those GPL clauses about being forced to publish modifications would be null and void. All that GNU drama over companies taking Linux code and not publishing their modifications wouldn't hold any legal water.

The thing is though that the depth is contracted disproportionally much more than width and height, which results in a non-linear transformation of perceived dimensions. This causes lines to bend. At 47mm straight lines aren’t bent no matte

Your link doesn’t load for me. I’m talking about the contraction of depth when using focal lengths greater than 47mm and lengthening of it when using shorter focal lengths. I guess you can contract depth as well by walking backwards, but at

I don't know about any special offers, but looking at standard pricing on rsync.net it would cost me $15/month for 1TB, while on Hetzner the same would cost me €3.94/month.

Even a "well-made" QR code menu is strictly inferior to a paper menu IMO. Reading and scrolling on a small smartphone display is just a long step back from the comfort of reading an A4 piece of paper.

Not necessarily. E.g. SML has had multicore since forever. In OCaml it’s the hot new thing now, which probably needs some time in the wild before everything is ironed out.
