I think 50:50 equity was their personal example. But in the OP, the partner leaving seems to want total compensation that amounts to 50% of a very high valuation that may only be possible if the other founder keeps working at a discount and

From the looks of it they never turned a reliable profit to pay two developers. They received a one time anonymous donation in 2018[1], that led to the second developer and looks like they were averaging about 16K a year then. In general, I
